Minibus taxis exceed the speed limit more often than other passenger vehicles, according to a study released on Wednesday.

Taxis were required by law not to drive faster than 100km/h, but exceeded the 120km/h speed limit regularly, Stellenbosch University researchers said on Wednesday.

Other passenger vehicles were also found to exceed the 120km/h speed limit up to 25 percent of the time.

That's not the only thing they exceed i've seen 28 people get out of a taxi and if i'm not mistaken it's an 18 seater
 
Omg! Really?? :p Why is this even news?
I took the taxi once and the driver witnessed a girl getting mugged by two guys as they ran into an intersecting street. I was surprised when the driver chased the two perps knocking one down (cracking the windscreen) and the guard and driver getting out to beat the perps.
Long story short, driving by taxi is crap but entertaining.

I'm sure it averages out though. Sometimes they drive at a crawl when they are not in a hurry.
