MMO for a newblet

Well I don't wanna pay monthly charges, I don't have the credit card for it
Thankfully due to it's popularity, you can buy time cards at any major retailer like CNA or Incredible.

yep. enough to know it be good :D

Sweet.

I have kinda stopped playing it after reaching lvl96 and having some really sick gear (Won't mention how much ive spent lol)
I know there is 1 guy on the Iron Monkey Server, he has spent around $25 000 on the game:eek::D
So just shows you that for someone to spend so much it has to be a pretty good game:)

Having played GW for about a year (way back when) and playing WoW since TBC launch, it depends really.
Both of them are really easy to get into, as long as you know someone with the data-files. Otherwise, expect a nice BIG download.

If you like more realistic looking character models / area's and don't really mind playing alone online, I would say GW. This game is entirely free-to-play.
(based on the fact that I never really did "raiding" per-se and disliked GvG in GW)
If you like more fantasy looking character models / area's and want to play with other people online, I would say WoW. This game has a monthly sub-fee (which is worth it in my opinion).
(based on the fact that I have been in quite a few guilds with varying success in WoW)

There is a lot more to it than these 2 points, but as a starting point, I suggest those.

Other than that, people saying "play the trial - its free"... This doesn't really work that often as in 10 levels of WoW, you experience nearly nothing of the real game (not just level 80 stuff, but talent tree's, professions etc). I don't know what GW's trial system is like.

OH, nearly forgot, one more thing... A bit of a deterrent.. For both of the games, you could buy the vanilla version for a small amount (R100-R200), but you'd be missing all the magic they have added to both of these titles over the years. The expansions all-together with the game, could set you back about R400-00 or so... Just a heads-up.

My 2c

Ordinarily I'd agree, but 10 days of play will probably get you well past the first 10 levels of WoW. At any rate, a if you get to around level 10 you should at least have an idea if you like the style, mechanics etc of WoW. If you don't like it at level 10, you won't really like it at 80 either. Granted there's a lot more to do and the complexity ramps up, but mechanically it's still the same game, epic gear and raiding or not.
Either way it's free. If you can get the client from someone, you have nothing to lose. Even with Guild Wars you actually have to BUY the box/key to be able to log on. The WoW trial needs neither.

Its the level cap for trial account's AFAIK Skurm, but the rest of your post makes sense to a degree. I do disagree though.

I played WoW till level 40 the first time I played. I did 1-40 or so in one long binge session (lanning over a long weekend with mates and they had one of the first 512KBps lines so figured, "may as well try"). Overexposure to the max. My mates both re-rolled to play with me because I bought the game before even trying the trial. I only learnt the pure basics at about level 20. And I had experienced guys helping me (they did a server first Ragnaros kill... during Vanilla). We take it for granted now, but the game is a LOT to take in for a new (as in, never played an MMO before) player.

It took me a while to get to raiding eventually and getting professions to max-level (FSW set anyone?) to understand the sheer magnitude of the game. Thats what hooked me properly. Levelling for the first time was fun, but the first time you stepped into a raid.. You felt part of something... special ;)

Opinions are just that though :)

Did the OP ever make a decision?

Ja but i mean distilled down to the basicas, the gameplay is all about clicking on a mob, pressing a button or two till it dies while watching your d00d flail about, picking up some loot and getting some xp. Repeat a zillion billion times for the next 4 years of your life. :P . That's the formula from level 1 to 80, it just gets more complicated and prettier and you get better and cooler abilities as you go along.
If you enjoy 1-10 odds are you'll enjoy 11-80. If you don't, odds are you won't. Most people who get hooked on WoW get hooked within that first gaming session. Sorta like smoking. You klap your first ciggie and either you smaak another one, or you don't.

And Blizzard, like any good heroin dealer, gives out that first hit for free...
