Mobo upgrade advice

Hey guys

I'm looking at replacing my aging Crosshair 3 but I don't want to spend as much on a mobo this time.

Basic requirements AM3+, Raid 0 and comfortably fit in the thermaltake core v21.

I really don't want to spend more than R2K on it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The MSI 970 Gaming doesnt look too bad. I have no experience with MSI though. Kind of always stuck with Asus because of the reliability.

depends on uyourcpu. I have a msi 970 it only plays good with 95w cpu's like the quad cores and hex cores,

if you have an 8320 or 8350 125w processor then you are going to run into issues. the only 8 core cpu's that works correctly with the board is the 8320e or 8350e 95w versions. the board is quite stable i only have issues with mine where when it boots at certain times than it tries to boot my gpt 3tb and not my primary drive

I'm thinking of switching to intel. Would the 4690 be a suitable upgrade/side grade from my 1090T?

Huge upgrade, not just on the cpu front but the entire platform.

I would say sell your current setup and get on the intel train, AMD's current chip line up isn't bad but it's no where near as good as Current gen intel chips.

Grab an i5 4690 and a decent board.

Great board that, with really good on board audio as well.

I doubt its bottlenecking but it does feel like AMD is missing that consistant "powah!" of intel. Figured its better to switch now while i'm getting my pc a bit up to date.

Cheers for that! Added the board to my wishlist and will probably grab one next month and maybe a 4690K on carbonite.

Looks like quite an improvement if i look at the benches between the 2.
