Modern Warfare 2 - Dedicated Servers

*sigh*

It doesn't seem to occur to the author that you can actually have the two functioning side-by-side. On PC, it should be possible to have both dedicated servers AND listen servers for matchmaking. Activision may be run by an idiot, but I don't think the Dev team is quite that stupid...
 
Great read, But personally, server side I don't think they would ever drop something like that ever.

I think what they meant by this and "matchmaking" is only an additional feature for clients to get into games quicker.

SOLVES ALL PROBLEMS :P
 
I should read more carefully. I think I just got overwhelmed by all the Modern Warfare 2 bad news....

I don't think that they will leave out the dedicated servers.

That is their bread and butter, as the COD4 version is still alive because of it.
It increases the popularity and replayability of the game.
We are going to put one up as soon as we get our hands on a copy. :)

An increased price and lack of Dedicated server would make this the most pirated game ever X100 .

I doubt I'd pay for it if they dropped mods and dedicated servers, I enjoy my competitive cod and removing that element removes the value of the game imo.
 
What is it with these people? It's like they have the objective of making the PC version fail financially. If they don't want to do a PC version anymore then just say so and be done with it. Just remember who it was that supported the original Call of Duty - PC gamers. All this controversy surrounding the PC release is getting irritating.

If this pulls through, I'm seriously debating on weather or not to Buy this game...

Increase the price and drop the value 0.o

I agree with the fact that this is getting rather irritating. Stop posting rumours and stuff like - "the lead designer said "this" so it means no "that" kind of BS.

Breaking news - The lead designer made a comment about the single player part of the game, does this mean there is no multiplayer? Come on.
 
Well I heard that the lead designer said that instead of assualt rifles the PC version will make use of bananas, and instead of nades? puppies
It is seriously getting a bit lame now, I still think this game will be a win...
 
Ja with the price increase and lack of dedicated server reported, I cancelled my pre-order. Had quite a few fail games in the last few years including what could have been EPIC if it wasnt for VOIP frontlines fuel of war, to name one of many
 
Yeah you right. Frontlines had so much potential but failed because of things they didnt add that the community cried for.

No Dedicated servers are suicide. If we wanted Console type environment for online play we would have bought consoles. Seriously reconsidering buying this game now as well.

Why dont we just all go out and get Operation Flashpoint 2, it has some spiffy Multiplayer by the looks of it.
