Modern Warfare Remastered Won’t Be Offered As Standalone Purchase

Those who were getting all excited about Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered might need to dial it down a notch. Activision cleared up a few rumors earlier this week and the company says people won’t be able to buy the remastered title on its own, at least not for now. Instead, those who want the old reliable game will need to first purchase Infinite Warfare‘s Legacy, Legacy Pro and Digital Deluxe editions.

The information surfaced in a brand new FAQ Activision posted. “Can I play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered without buying Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare?” asks one question. “No, you must own Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in order to get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.”

The remastered version won’t be offered on disc either. Activision has said the only way to get the title will be as a digital download that will be activated when users purchase the right version of the new Infinite Warfare game.

Well you ain't getting my hard earned cash for Infinite Warfare. I purchased all the Modern Warfare games with season passes and would've liked to have a go at the Remastered version of MW but not gonna allow being taken on by these bullying tactics.

I have a sneaky suspicion that to access MW Remaster, you will have to do it through IW's game menu... I could be wrong but it would be a way to curb sales of MW: Remasters.

I'm sure they'll eventually release it standalone. They're just not saying that for now as they want to ensure gamers uninterested in Infinite Warfare still buy the game to get their hands on the remaster.
