More Radeon HD 5870 Details

I don't think i would go to work for awhile. I want to play crysis/S.T.A.L.K.E.R on that max everything..... -faints

What's the dimensions of that thing?

A resolution of 2880x900. Dimensions equivalent to two 24" widescreen monitors standing end-to-end.

It's a DLP rear projection on a curved screen monitor, with OLED illumination. Response time = 02ms.

But this was a prototype in built for CES '08. It was supposed to be available in the beginning of this year but nothing has been heard since it was shown at CES.

You can really see from this angle just how big this thing is:

omg it's a fatty. When they gonna bring out a flat screen version?

I would wait till dec time, when hopefully it would be a bit lower. But I doubt it, investing into a 4870 now which goes for +-R1400 is still a good upgrade for a few year :)

Wait - which do I go for now? The 4850 @ R1220 or the 4870? Also - what chipset one do I go for, because it seems XFX is more expensive than Connect 3D etc.

Btw, nice one Tincan! Hope you enjoy it :D

Voicy, you told me you only have R1200 to spend. Hence why I never mentioned the HD4870 price :)

only reason why I wont go for ATI is becuase at this moment it offers no PHysx Support and most of the games are now depended on that.

But ill keep my eye on this one.

looks interresting.

IMO, PhysX hasn't had the impact it thought it would be. Much of it is still handled by the CPU. I'm awaiting OpenCL and Havok to see how they bring it to the market :)

OpenCL might just be a death blow to Physx. Closed standards like that are easily killed off. I have my Physx set to off in the control panel.
