I am in the process of downloading this and have played a little bit. It's odd... the violence of the fatalities has never bothered me before, because they were cartoonish and silly, but I did the Scorpion fatality where he slices the opponent's face in half, and it frankly made me sick. It's starting to look too real now, and it bothers me.
Other than that, it doesn't seem much different from its predecessor so far. Maybe once it downloads everything the story will prove to be worth a look.

I watched a Youtube vid earlier with all the fatalities and stopped 3 minutes in. It really has become too over the top abd violent for me. The glazed dead eyes, bubbling blood, twitching bodies and throbbing hearts, brains and tongues are a bit too much for me.

Last night, I FINALLY managed to get to play. Many thanks to Arcite (he's on the forum somewhere) for getting me the files. What a pain to install though. It took significantly longer than it usually does to install from files, but in the end, I played a bit and loved every second. Except for the online play, that was unplayable. I couldn't even get into a match.

But really though, they are over the top. I don't play the game for the fatalities. It's rewarding enough to be able to kick a character's ass on hard, without turning them inside out. Not that I can, but it would be rewarding.

I got into a ranked match, but it was unplayable for me. That's not really a surprise though, I don't think this kind of game is suitable for such high pings. The question is, how well it will work between local players. I haven't been able to try that yet, we should try to arrange something sometime, maybe over the weekend.

Ja, I can't say I'm surprised either. And as you say, the high pings are going to be problematic anyway. Ag well.
This weekend I might not be around owing to a family-in-law visit, but if I see you in-game this week I'll message you and we can have a match or two. Sound good?

Also, I forgot to ask, [MENTION=187]_Caboose_[/MENTION], how did you do in the reddit tournament? I heard that there were a lot of no-shows but it went well overall?

Ugh, that sucks.
As Eugene said, we should test out the local online capabilities. Maybe do that tournament, even if we have only 3-4 players. We could also open the tournament up to the guys in the local MKX steam group...

I played three rounds against a friend last night online. There was very little lag, but at some points there was a small but noticeable spike. Overall the performance was very good and easily good enough to be thoroughly enjoyable over many rounds without lag making it a pain. Also, my opponent said that his ADSL line was acting a little strange, so the lag spikes could have been from that. All in all, I highly recommend playing against local foes. I'm glad to see that [MENTION=56]StoneCold[/MENTION] has managed to get international opponents working though.

Just some feedback on my online experience. Have had some awesome and successful matches with people from the UK and Germany
If you guys ever join any of the rooms and want to know from which country a specific player is, highlight him, press Enter and then have a look at his profile. If his Steam profile isn't set to private, then you'll be able to see from which country he/she is. Really has helped me find some good matches
