Mouse suggestions

Hi guys. I'm looking for a new mouse, hoping you guys might have some advice or suggestions on makes/models/suppliers

I'm looking for something worth gaming with, that has a couple of extra buttons over the default 3, under about R850...

Not sure what to make of the Redragon ones I see all over the place, I have been looking at the Asus ROG Gladius 1, Roccat Kova, Logitech G300S, etc, and I've been poking around in Takealot, Zaps and Evetech.

Unfortunately, I'm not really sure what I should be looking for, hence the thread.

Best mouse I've used in years

Razer Deathadder Elite
https://www.rebeltech.co.za/5875-razer-deathadder-elite-rz01-02010100-r3g1.html

Very comfortable, incredibly precise and great software. It is however a Razer product...so yeah. Mine hasn't given me any issues yet.

Logitech G Pro

https://www.rebeltech.co.za/3744-logitech-g-pro.html

Haven't used one personally but I've only heard really good things about it, so worth checking out

Cougar 550M

https://www.rebeltech.co.za/8798-cougar-550m.html

Never used it, but again I've only ever heard good things about it.

ROCCAT Kova Black

https://www.rebeltech.co.za/15397-roccat-kova-black.html

I've owned an XTD and it was a fantastic mouse (My favorite mouse up until I used the Deathadder Elite).
Roccat quality is generally a step above the rest, definitely a great brand and the mouse has good reviews, so worth looking into.

It's difficult to recommend a mouse...

Thanks Joker, I must say that Roccat Kova was high on my list. I was also keen on the Asus ROG because it would match the laptop :-)

I haven't bought from RebelTech before, are they good?

I've got Deathadder Elite - love it, fits my hand and play style perfectly

Looks very cool, pushing the budget a bit though

Here's a thought, might be worth holding out until rAge to see if there are any deals going, or I can at least maybe try some out before I buy one....

o.

I agree with Joker - it is difficult to find someone else a mouse - are you a claw grip or not, how many fancy buttons do you want. My biggest problem is I actually NEED to hold the mice and see if they will fit in my hand.

I can think it's quite a personal choice, but it's worth getting an idea of what's good as a starting point, I should probably lurk around a PC shop and try some.

I have never actually thought about categorising my mouse grip, but it looks like it's a fingertip grip or maybe claw, I only have my fingertips on the mouse, but my wrist rests on the table

See I have learnt I have a combo grip - I have a bit of a claw due to my accident and still rest my palm on the mouse. Plus I have tiny hands so most gaming mice are to big for me, I have to search a long while to find anything comfy - currently using a naga hex with the 6 buttons - I am sad tho since i dont use all the buttons

I probably have fairly average size hands for a man, so quite a bit bigger than most women. I don't think a palm grip would work for me unless I had a really big mouse because my fingers would go over the buttons and end up on the desk, at least with a normal office type mouse.

I don't need a ton of buttons, but at least 2 on the side, and the dpi toggle looks handy as well. More is nice to have but I doubt I would use them

Is there a specific reason you would need dpi toggle mid game? And not have it software based?
What kind of games do you play most?

If use macros and lots of bindings, then something like the Naga is awesome. If you want a comfortable, well built while keeping it minimal to avoid stuff getting in the way and pressed by accident, then something like the Deathadder or the Roccat Kone XTD. just use the 2 extra buttons for coms. one for in game and one for TS/Discord.

I'll probably play more shooters than anything, planning to get PUBG to start with. Won't need lots of macros. For office use, back and forward buttons are great, which can map to something in game. The dpi button is something I've come across reading reviews, sounds like it's good for changing sensitivity when you're scoped in, and it sounded like it would be handy and maybe it's a thing nowadays.

But put it this way, it's probably been around 10 years since I was last a pc gamer so I'm a bit out of touch with the hardware and I'm trying to find my feet again with what is good to have and what's unnecessary.

You never change DPI while in game! That is looking for trouble to mess around with you game play.
I however do change dpi from game to game sometimes. But then I do it using the software. So I would not make the DPI button a priority if I was you

I was gonna say I cant even remember when I last changed the dpi

Exactly, and ladies mess around with things constantly just for the sake of messing around. So if you hardly use it, I doubt matt will

Oh cool, the reviewers went on about it like it was such a big thing, I won't bother about that then.

I do still quite like the look of that Roccat one though, more buttons than I need but I like their products

Not sure if it is still the Case, but Roccat withdrew from SA when I had a Roccat. The situation might have changed.
Only thing about the Roccat that happened to about 3 people I know, was that the cables soldering onto the PCB came loose and you had to DIY it as there was no where to take the mouse for warranty claim or get parts.
So if considering a Roccat I would just look into the local support and see what the current situation is
