Movie/Series downloaders vs Game/software piraters

Does this count?

No can see. Local Pic plz.

This is my point though. I seriously doubt that anybody here has never once used, copied, downloaded, enjoyed, owned etc anything that was pirated.

Interesting to note, I saw a survey somewhere which was quite comical. Something like 70% of Legit Game Owners / Self proclaimed anti-pirates used Pirated Windows / MS office.

Well I bought my copy of Windows 7 Ultimate retail edition fair and square and I also managed to purchase Office 2010 ProPlus through our company's home-use program. On the other hand I'm not innocent when it comes to having some pirated content but I still get annoyed with people that go out-of-their-way to get something when it's perfectly easy to get it legally. I know it's very hypocritical - but that doesn't change my opinion.

I think in some way I know where I've come from in the past where I had lots of pirated stuff which I didn't even need to where I am now where I'll try my absolute best to make sure that whatever I've got, is legal. I don't have a single game that is pirated on any of my platforms and none of my blu-ray movies are pirated :D

If only photoshop can someday become an affordable product, I'd be a happy camper.

just call me captain oblivious

because i'm oblivious to the fact that it's been stated before. :p

I don't download anything illegally. No games, no music, no movies, no shows. As far as I'm concerned, it's all piracy. I've never installed a torrent client, ever.

I catch up on movies and series whenever I visit my sister in London, as she has a gargantuan DVD collection (must be around a thousand or so titles). I also usually buy loads of CDs whenever I'm in London, although I do download a lot of stuff from iTunes too (and pay for it, obviously).

Also, someone said earlier that ripping your own CDs is illegal - this isn't true everywhere. In fact, it's legal almost everywhere except, oddly enough, the UK. Obviously, the law stipulates that the copied media is retained for private, personal use only.

What Azi says makes sense though. While I lived in the UK is was alot easier to simply go out and get the series/cd/dvd you want. At the HVW 3 for 20GBP dvd sails I must have spent thousands of pounds. The meager selection of titles at even the biggest Musica or Look & listen pales in comparison to even the small DVD/CD stores in the UK. Fop, MVC, Virgin Mega Store and the Gaint HMV has every title imaginable. I use to love wandering round the world cinema section picking up asian movies that I've never even heard of.

Noty that any of this is a excuse, just saying its easier being "good" when there are an abundance choice.

Well, I've come to realise it's cheaper to buy my blu-rays from Amazon.co.uk than to buy local, incl shipping. Prime example is the Harry Potter Box set. To buy and ship it from UK is costing me R320 or so. That is for all 6 movies to date. Try buying one locally?

Harry Potter Box set Blu-ray £24.99
