MW2 on PC to cost the same as console version

August 19, 2009 - For years now, PC gamers have enjoyed lower prices for new, blockbuster multiplatform games than their compatriots on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Whereas a new console game usually retails for $59.99, PC gamers usually get the same game for $49.99. However, it looks like the price difference will disappear with Modern Warfare 2, Activion's upcoming triple-A shooter. According to major retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop, the regular edition for the PC is priced at $59.99.

To make matters worse, the PC will not get the two collector's editions of the game. The Hardened Edition for the consoles is priced at $79.99 and contains a steel book, an art book, and a token to download the original Call of Duty. Then the $149.99 Prestige Edition includes everything in the Hardened Edition as well as working night vision goggles and a stand to hang them on when you're not skulking around in the dark.

LMAO... Console games and PC games the same price, thats insane. Looks like development companies need to make there money back one way or the other.

So what happened to the license fee they have to pay to get the game on consoles ?? That has always been cited as the reason for the higher price. I see this as activision being creedy nothing more. I will just ignore their games nothing big.
 
Actually i read an article awhile ago somewhere on the internets that Activision was gonna put up prices on everything to see how ppl will react and if they would pay the premium.... wtf :/ R600(if we lucky) for a pc game :mad: R399 is still reasonable
 
Take 2 still has it as R361. Will keep an eye on it. But if it goes higher i might, can't believe im saying this, not buy it at all.
 
I agree Omega. If it gets too expensive then I'll just leave it.

I have a feeling that it's still going to sell like crazy though and then the publisher will see that it's feasible to sell games at such high prices.

There's only one thing left to do! Boycott the game! :)

Ill pick it up eventually. But, and it kills me to say it, there are other awesome games coming out as well. With money not going as far as it use to ive limited myself to 1 new or 2 pre-played games a month. With Batman in September, Borderlands and Dragon Age in Oct and Alpha Protocol, MW2, AC2 and L4D2 all hitting in November buying a PC game for the price of a console game just isn't viable.
 
I will be downloading this one off a torrent site. They can go get f***ed if they expect us to pay R600. Screw that! Now they just getting greedy and I feel feathers that their shit gets pirated! :(
 
Activision is the new EA, Kotick is a huge A**hole.
I'll be getting this on pre-played, too many other good games coming out and kind of sick of FPS
 
Dragon Age origins's CE with tons of extra content is R600. There's no way I am paying the Same price for a normal edition of MW2.
