MWEB to implement free uncapped 1Mbps ADSL speed upgrades

Ya. also got me considering. What can I cut back on so I can get me some faster internets? I'm hoping that Openweb will respond with better prices - then my decision will basically be made.
 
Ok I know this is sad but are these companies gonna be upgrading us on 384K at any time in the near future like they're doing for the 512 peeps?? Sorry this is just outta curiosity....

Most probably not. Its the lowest guaranteed speed.
 
Hm, I'm paying about R800 for 50GB, 4Mbps ADSL including line rental. It might just be worth it to change over to MWEB. Slower, but cheaper and uncapped.
Is everyone happy with latency / contention ratio's, etc on MWEB uncapped?
 
These types of events are always something that we need. Soon, other will follow with more competitive deals. They fight, we win.
 
I wouldn't take speed downgrade like that in order to have an uncapped account, especially if I already had a data allocation of 50Gb to play with....well not unless the 1mbps uncapped option was SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper.
 
Mweb are awesome in the way that they kinda force the other ISP's to follow suite. As far as 384 goes im sure they will bump 384 up to 512 at some stage, they have been talking about doing it for a long time and bumping 512 customers to 1mb is probably the first step.

telkom bumped 384 up from 192 or something a while back.
i think this is just to even things out a bit - the price diffs between the 3 speeds made no sense previously (for a couple dolla you basically got a 7x speed increase going from 512 to 4mbps)

the mweb move was really just in line with telkom's upgrade.
unless telkom bumps everyone else up another notch, i don't see isp's doing it for free.

True, and I really don't want to ditch the account I have now, because it was a limited offer, and I can't get that price anymore
 
This is really a good value offering. I was on the 512 package since November last year and then the beginning of this month already I noticed my download speeds had increased to the speeds of a 1MB line. My stats so far:

Tank: once you have been switched over to 1mbps, will you still pay the same as you currently do? That is how I understand this article.
