James, I think you should contact Mweb and get clarification on what packages are affected. If they start throttling me (1Mb/s), i'm going to have to cancel and move else where.
How is it good? When you pay for a premium, uncapped&unthrottled product you expect to get what you pay for. Otherwise its a soft capped&throttled product. False advertising at its best.
There are always T&Cs regardless of the package.
But when Mweb phones me to try sell me ADSL they tell me they are so much better than the uncapped I have with WA because I might get throttled there but Mweb is totally uncapped and I can use all I want with no worries

I just read all the complaints on mybroadband. It seems like its users on the uncapped standard and uncapped premium who are being affected. I think unless you got the email from them you don't have anything to worry about., in fact your connection quality should get better since apparently people are saying its kicked in already and congestion by heavy users is being reduced.
Also it seems like MWeb is experiencing an exodus of users who are very unhappy about the lack of clarity and respect for the customer.
There are always T&Cs regardless of the package.
So yeah, uncapped my ass. MWEB is playing dirty here. Now they get rid of the supposedly "3%" of their users that take a huge chunk of the network capacity to make space for new users who don't download so much. More money with less data usage. Good move on the business side, dick move on the PR side.We reserve the right to establish policies, rules and limitations, from time to time, concerning the use of any service. You must comply with any bandwidth, data storage and other limitations we may impose, in our reasonable discretion. Failure to comply with these rules will result in your service being restricted, suspended or terminated, in our reasonable discretion.
Ummm ok so? Not the point here .Their AUP doesn't state what exactly "abusive behaviour" is , and neither do they give you a data threshold.

...you didn't read what I said. Let me explain it again, especially for you. If you advertise a product as being a premium, uncapped and unthrottled product it better bloody be uncapped and unthrottled. Nowhere do they say when you will be subject to throttling, other than when they decide with their "reasonable discretion".Exactly the point, everyone cries foul when they know full well they are taking a chance. Difficult to believe that these 3% are folks that are 'surprised'.
Their motive, clear as sky. They can't deliver the service they are being paid for, so why not get rid of the customers rather than upgrade their network infrastructure.Or, upgrade to another MWEB package to accommodate your higher data usage.
Thank you sherlock, for pointing out the obvious which I already pointed out before you. As I said before - it's unethical to offer a premium uncapped product and then put a usage limit on it.So what do you think MWEB is, a charity. Of course it's a business decision.

Taking a chance? More like getting the full product you paid for.
If you can't provide a fully uncapped&unthrottled service your customers are paying ridiculous prices for, then make it capped. MWEB are bloody liars otherwise.

Look man , I don't mean to come on rude but you are missing the obvious right before your eyes.
Then it's not uncapped. Aka a lie.Go and search for ANY AUP out there and not a single one states a limit.
No-one provides a fully uncapped, unthrottled service.....genius.
Oh sure, I will fly over to your place first thing in the morning, and then type in the url in your browser's address bar. I mean, it must be so hard to go to mweb's webpage and compare the normal uncapped and premium uncapped packages.Where does it state that premium is anything different, care to share the link where this is stated or did you fall into the marketing blurb trap?
Care to check the mweb page yourself?
Funny how even my old man snapped it faster than you...and he is 53!
Good for your dad, he is the one with the brains in the family.

Ok, now click on View Full Spec...... tada ...... No data cap (Subject to MWEB AUP). Sorry mate, the fact that users don't read the conditions is not MWEB's fault.
Are you stupid or plain ignorant? So it's the users' fault that they pay for a UNCAPPED, UNTHROTTLED product and yet they will be throttled once they reach a soft cap, which is unknown?
Can't believe you are defending those lying basterds and saying it's the users' fault for using the full product that they paid for. I'm starting to remember why I put you on my ignore list.
