MWEB upgrades ADSL network with 10Gbps links, more Seacom bandwidth

Good for Mweb customers but doesnt help me when I use telkom and others are mostly on openweb etc.

Also doesn't help if telkom can't fix the noise on your dsl line for over two months :/

This is the biggest point that currently hounds the higher speed installations. Due to bad quality lines you may qualify for 10mb but end up only getting 3mb tops. I really hope that they find a working solution for this and soon! Also, upgrade the rest of the exchanges please!

Do you have problems all the time or intermittently with this?

All the time. Telkom's even acknowleged the fault - and located it to the cable between my house and the nearest box. Just scheduling someone from Telkom to actually fix it (i.e. replace the cable) is harder than spotting an ant on the ground while flying at 30000 feet with the naked eye.

I remember getting a new copper line installed from the nearest box to my residence, took 18months of begging / swearing / giving up / starting over / more swearing. Just to lay a 10m cable... The problem is that it gets outsourced to the cheapest contractor, so someone has to get quotes and then someone else has to approve it and for some reason this is just too darn difficult to manage properly.

Upgrades unless you live in Durban, rather large problems with their new setup for Durbs peeps. Getting like 200-400ms to local durban hobs and then another 200ms to cpt. Hopefully they will have this fixed by the weekend.

I'm from durbs and yes pings are higher than normal, usually got between 40 and 50 local ping, now its nothing less than 70.

Can see a difference in reliability not so much speed, had a lot of problems where internet would slow down to a crawl often it would seems almost scheduled. After a while I knew that on sundays between 7 and 12 the web would be slow again like the previous weeks. All seemed to be fixed now, I just hope I dont speak to soon.

/Edit

Spoke to soon, pingtest shows 70 ping, in game its more like 150 or more, basically unplayable.

They are obviously still working out the kinks in their new infrastructure, during the day it runs terrible and then it's fine again at night.

In all honesty I dont mind because I know I'm getting a overall better product from them, so if its more time they need to work out the kinks then I'm all for it. When did you start noticing bad pings monk?

Yesterday, so I would assume that is when they did they switch over to the new system.

Same here, also did a quick pingtest late last nite and early this morning, showed a ping of 36 on both occasions so hopefully things are back to normal.
