My bad gaming habit

I get a new game, play it flat out and get fairly far. Then I stop playing because Im bored of it so I shelf it till Im keen again.
When I start playing again(months later) I finish it in an hour or less because thats how close I was to the end and Im left thinking 'is that it?'. Its happened now with Half Life 2 and Saints Row 3 this week both awesome games but the overall impact of seeing the credits roll has been lost.

I call it Gaming A.D.D. or Gaming Schitzo.

It's a legit condition, happens to me sometimes as well

and my flatmate has a serious case of Gaming A.D.D.

The only BGH I can think of which I have would be...

Having a chore to do and telling myself that I'm going to do it in 5 minutes, and end up doing it 2 hours later...

More to come... :)

You should play Skrim. That way you can get bored of it lots of times, and when you pick it up again, there'll still be loads left to do :D

I have the problem where I will start playing a game (PS3) about half way, then I stop playing. Then when I want to continue playing it again later, I find that I get killed easily in these more difficult parts of the games, because I cannot really remember the controls...

Then I usually stop playing the game completely...

I have a drawer full of games, and I have only finished two of them :)

It's quite common. I still have Arkham City and Max Payne 3 installed even though I didn't play them in weeks. Both games blew my mind but I just lost interest somewhere down the line.

It's called life :o

That is my approach to Skyrim as well. :)
I think I might have overdone it with Fallout NV with all that DLC so it is a bit hard for me to really get into the game and not get bored.

Happens to me with new games. Especially with the Steam summer sales, etc. I buy a new game, I want to check it out quickly so I just play through the intro (up to 2 hours sometimes depending on how gripping the game is). Then I put it off till later (Since I'm already busy with other things) and then I forgot the controls by the time I get back to it. I usually just play the intro again.

Most of my older games don't work:cry: I really wish I could play AC: Brotherhood/Revelations again while I'm waiting for Darksiders 2 and Slepping Dogs to arrive. I also did the same thing with Ghost Recon: FS. I got bored at like the ninth mission and left it for a week or two and then I finished it

My bad habit is that I play a game until that 'new game' feeling wears off, then I stop and usually never play it again.

Alan Wake was one of those games that I dropped off half way through. I always mean to finish it but I end up playing ratchet and clank instead. It took me two months to finish the last Assassins creed because i would switch it off every time I had to do a tower defence.

Too true, I think it happens to all of us.
Although one game has me coming back to it nearly everyday since I got it in January 2009: Team Fortress 2. I think I've pumped over 90 hours into that game and I love it still.

90 hours? No offense, dude, but for a multiplayer game you've been playing for 3 and a half years, 90 hours isn't exactly a lot.

Thanks for the thread bradbear, it motivated me to finish some games I'd left hanging :D

Awesome, now you can sell or trade them with no regrets!:D
Lately theres this one game that literally stares at me whenever a walk past. Mirrors Edge.....starting to creep me out.
