My NEW Gaming PC... Finally

Next, I need to get a new GPU. That little EN210 is missing in the case... :) So GTX570 / 580 / 7870 / 7950 may be on the cards. Which of these would you prefer and why? I am kinda leaning towards the 7950, due to the 384bit and that it's newer tech....


And then after that on my list, I would like to get:
- Corsair H100/i Closed water loop
- SSD
- Better RAM (currently using Kinston DDR3 1333 value ram, could do with some dominator triple channel kits)
- By the time I get to this step, I would probably have to change the core 3 again.....

I would Go with a Oc'd edition 7870 looking at the prices compared to benchmarks it is a great card I would recommend it.

I actually saw that I can get a brand new 7950 for R3k through a connection... so may be looking at that... seems to get great reviews! Or I will go for a 7870... gonna check out carbonite forums again later today.

Buying a screen today, have to decide between:

LG 23" 5ms Passive 3D

and

Samsung Old trusty 2ms plain 2D

The one is Passive 3D, ie. 60Hz, and the other is a Samsung where I prefer the brand.

Anyone have suggestions about the above?

no Evering, you got it all wrong. This isn't a thread where we all post our rig specs, this is where TBlaar brags about his and rubs it in our faces like a fat kid heating a KFC bucket in front of the homeless shelter :p
 
Oh wow, I spent more on my gpu than you did on your whole computer :) That PSU really makes a world of difference, it's looking stunning.
 
Yip, the reason I can justify the additional spend on PSU and monitor and GFX, is due to the cheap price for the base parts.

Ordered the screen yesterday, stock ex JHB, should have it in next week hopefully :)

LOL, That's an IDE DVD RW, need to remove that ASAP! Want to get a Sata BluRay writer, can pick one up for about R800 nowadays.

I was also wondering where I can get some nicer SATA cables, The ones I have suck, would like to get a nice rounded cable or sum sum...
 
Right, I am ready to buy a new GFX card, but need some advice.

I am looking at buying a 660Ti, and saw a few around at different prices. Which one would be a good pick?

Currently looking at the eVGA 660Ti Superclocked 3GB. Is there another one I should consider?

Or another card perhaps? Will need to be in the same price range.
 
Well, around whatever that 660Ti costs :) About R3k....

Someone told me last night though, that I should much rather go for the 7870 or 7950.... Apparently since some driver updates those cards are insanely fast... Now I'm not sure any more...

What's your opinions?

I was asking becuase I own a 7950 and yes the drivers make it run 10% faster in some games... You really can't go wrong with this one :)
 
Mmm, interesting, as the 7870 and 660Ti are in the same price range, while the 7950 is in the same performance range as the 660Ti...

Leaning back to the NVidia card now....
