So the other day we were asked which phones we'd like to get seeing as it's been 3 years since we've received new staff phones. I was keen on getting the iPhone 4 - until I saw this:

From the reviews that I've seen this phone seems to be a legitimate iPhone4 killer. The fact that it's running Android 2.1 (2.2 due soon) makes it a much more attractive offer. This phone has equal or more hardware capabilities AND allows the owner of the phone to customize the phone completely. That last sentiment will be enough to drive Steve Jobs to suicide.

I'm a recent convert. I've tasted Android and it's by FAR the best mobile OS that I've ever had the pleasure of using. For a technically minded person, it's THE toy to play with because the rewards are awesome. iPhone was nice, and still the iPhone 4 is a very fancy phone, but my choice goes to this Samsung.

Even if my employer wasn't going to sponsor me with this handset I would have definitely bought it personally over the iPhone 4. Luckily, I don't have to - unless the carrot is a lie.

Oh, another reason I got to pick this phone - it's cheaper than the iPhone 4 and our budget wouldn't have allowed for it anyways lol. Sometimes the cheaper option really is the better one. Let's hope my employer doesn't read my comment I just made *eeeeek*
 
I've got the HTC Desire. Android = amazing. You're a lucky guy to get your employer to buy you such an awesome phone
 
Out of curiosity, does anyone know if Android 2.x now has an easy way of zooming in and out ? That is pretty much the ONLY thing I like better on the iPhone at the moment.

Zooming in and out in terms of what, web browsing and pictures? If that's your question then the answer is that the Android handsets (well, most of the new ones) support multi touch input exactly like the iPhone so you also pinch and stretch etc like you would with an iPhone.
 
Ah so that then solves that! I'm refering to Jump actually, very nice utility that allows you to RDP to a MS Server. Works great on the iPhone because of the pinch / stretch zooming.

I'll have to try and upgrade my Magic to Android 2.2 sometime. Or get a new phone in the new year.
 
Why does it say "Samsung I9008 Galaxy S for Chinese market" at the top of the page that you posted the link?
