My Return to PC gaming

Okay, I've been on consoles for the last 5 years. Im an XBOX die hard it's an awesome machine. Yes, the PS3 too but I can honestly say that the PC is blatantly amazing for gaming as I have recently re-discovered. Im not trying to start the terribly old and tired argument. Im just stating the awesomeness.

awesomeness#1: easy game tweaks, for example: Just got Saints Row the Third for PC. Hated the default camera view, it was too tight and killed my eyeballs. A quick mod download and value edit in notepad and viola, the camera view is wider and my eyeballs are saved!

awesomeness#2: game mods, ensuring most your games stay fresh and allowing you to streak without any censoring through Skyrim!

awesomeness#3: game prices. The Darkness 2 for R50!? On the other shelves its R599!

awesomeness#4: screen captures. I love 'taking photo's' and recording gameplay in games. I dont know why, Im a geek:)

awesomeness#5: Steam. Holy moly Steam is genius. Must cut up credit card soon though:eek:

awesomeness#6: The accuracy powers of a mouse can not be denied.

thats about all the awesome I can think of at the moment but I also want to mention the zero lag I experience in the SA servers of BF3. Im hecticly not used to this thing of very little lag but it is awesome.

The start up cost of a new PC is a bit pricey but I can honestly say its worth every cent.

Just wait bro. If the next gen consoles "lock in" each game to the players profile, pc gaming is gonna get a big boost. They can't justify selling a game @ R599 if there's not going to be a second hand market. It's ridiculous.

I know, its a gamble slapping R600 down on something you may not like. At least PC has loads of good free to play games. Although you have to have a kak load of bandwidth to get them sometimes.

Ah welcome back our long lost son :D
Epic post aswell, no real console bashing and pure PC love at the same time. Great stuff.

I also started gaming on PC again when I built a new mid April. I never realized just how much I missed it. I mean, I still love gaming on my 360/PS3, but the PC will be getting quite a bit of love going forward.

PS: Where'd you get the Darkness 2 for R50?

Got it at Incredible Connection last week. Insane deal, I thought it was a pricing mistake but it was legit.

Ic sold so many titles at R50 and R99 it was a joke. And if you ordered online they sold out on some of their games but wit hthe terms and conditions CLEARLY READING that stock is limited first come first serve tehy are still trying to get the games from suppliers to source to customers. So they are taking one hell of a knock for delivering a service. Go read halo peter how people are going at them for receiving games 3 or 4 days late haha

The greatest benefit for me of the pc, is still that it is multi-purpose. Sure, the initial investment for a proper pc may require selling a limb on the black market, but I would have spent most of it anyway on a decent pc due to my requirements for work. The only additional things that I had to get is a 2nd display card for SLI and additional hard drive.

That said though... I just bought my first console with my eBucks :)... A PS3. It will probably be delivered today, but I'll only use it for exclusives that are not available on PC. :)

I don't think people actually realise that you can get away with spending around R8500 and getting a really decent pc.
Now take the fact that consoles sell for roughly R3000 and then there is the insane prices of console games, you can easily end up spending R2000 on 3-4 Titles.

I've had quite a few clients upgrading from consoles to pc's over the last 4 months.
Reason for upgrading to a pc: Prices of console games, Graphics starting to look dated on consoles, no Physx, no real world damage in most games, online multiplayer sucking: Bad latency/Lag spikes/No local severs ect.

They have all come back as happy campers. In fact I've had them over for a lan :D
They are now full on pc gamers.

My exact sentiments bro. I've also been returning to my roots in PC gaming.

Before 2009 I was a hardcore PC gamer, but then Uncharted 2 came out for PS3. I just HAD to play that game! So I bought a PS3 and with Uncharted 2 and never looked back really...

That led to the purchasing of an Xbox as well and other consoles...

I will say that consoles are truly awesome! The exclusives your get on consoles only far outweigh their PC counterparts and I find games seems to be in a more 'finished' state on consoles as opposed to PC.

Then last year I played one of the best games I have ever played, The Witcher 2. And that led me to come back to PC gaming... I upgraded my PC which I neglected for three years prior, updated Steam and everything and now I have fallen back in love with PC gaming again...

Not only are the graphics better, but the support the games receive from their respective communities is astonishing, plus there is Steam! Steam, the best and worst thing to ever happen to PC's. It's the best digital distribution platform available on PC at the moment, but it's also bad as it has all these specials! And you end up paying $200 every special :P...

But all in all I love PC gaming again :D!

Just need to get used to the m/kb combination again :P...

PC has been my main platform for years and I don't see that changing. I have a PS3 to play console exclusives, if the game is on both PS3 and PC then its an easy choice as to which platform I will be getting it for.

As much as I love my PS3 I can only take so much of a game that looks like it has Vaseline smeared all over my screen. Current generation consoles simply have terrible resolution. Once you play games at 1080p on high settings it's really hard to go back to 720p and lower.

Something so many people miss...
But want to get this welcome thread to turn into another raging and bashing thread so I'll leave it at that.

Well I will have to say welcome back to BradBear. I haven't really tried other consoles except my old psp 1000 (which I loved) so I can't say much about console gaming but I really do love pc gaming.

This will sound incredibly contradictory! But hear me out... I'm not a big fan of consoles anymore (ONLY BECAUSE I suck with using a controller, except racing games... First Person Shooters are my Achilles Heel). I would flippin' love to own an Xbox 360 or PS3 though... :)

Pcs last longer than consoles and there so much more to do on a pc! Welcome back thou, you just in time to jam d3
