I had a frustrating run last night - I think I wasn't as patient this time so I started making silly mistakes. Managed to trick the Black Knight off the ledge on my second attempt - it was quite funny to see him fall. Also managed to kill the lizard hiding in the barrels before you get to the Taurus Demon - it gave me some titanite and shining/twinkling titanite. I didn't have much luck with the Taurus demon though - I kept timing my rolls too early and landed up getting mashed around. Decided it wasn't my night and rather make a fresh attempt today.
 
Hammer how did you miss the bonfire after drake - or is there another way there that I've forgotten about?

No I haven't even reached past the drake yet. It just looks at me and I burst into flames and die.

But thanks [MENTION=20]Solitude[/MENTION] and [MENTION=6280]Blazzok[/MENTION] for the tips. Hopefully my internet issues would be sorted out tonight and I can join on TS, because I just want to get to a different bonfire and not have to the same run over and over again.

So, I've been keeping track of all my deaths as well. I'm standing on about 4 and a half hours of play, and to date have 24 deaths....an average of just over 5 per hour...

Excuse my confusion, but how did you get to the boar if you didn't go past the dragon?

Or maybe you're not where I think you are

That's not bad! With all those runs I hope you were able to retrieve your souls every time and leveled up a bit! I had to farm quite a bit of souls to buy miracles since I'm playing a proper cleric this time around.

It sucks that you also have internet issues. I can't run Dark Souls at all at the moment. BitCo is busy looking at it for me. My XBox One's NAS has gone from Open to Strict for no reason and no matter what I do I can't get it open again.

There is a way under the bridge on a ledge past some rats that comes up behind the gate at the back of the dragon. I'm then poised at the door of the boar on the one side, and the tower with the black knight thing as well

He went underneath the bridge through the place with the 3 poisonous rats. The problem with that way is that the door to the bonfire is closed and you can only open it from the bonfire's side.

Oh yeah - ok I'm with you.
The dragon is kak I'll give you that. I just hid in the corner of the right hand side wall and soon as I saw his foot appear , I ran like hell - but that's from the Solaire side.

I assume you did kick down the ladder that us underneath the bridge. If you then respawn at your bonfire, you climb up the ladder and you're at the bridge with the dragon. No far running required.

If you haven't, just go down the stairs on the right side of the bridge. Go down further than the "rat level" and you'll see a bonfire below you

You're fucking kidding me!!!! URGH!!!! I've fallen down there many times as to cash in on all the souls that I don't want to loose. Dammit so I can just kick down the ladder. Stupid Hammer is stupid
 
I love how 4 years after starting, I'm still finding new places. Found a new place with a bunch of chests at the first bonfire yesterday.

I also learned the hard way that the titanite demon at the blacksmith is very resistant to physical damage - ouch. Going to try and take the Gargoyles later today. I'm running a build with the Winged Spear which I picked up in the graveyard near the first bonfire and it's nice that I can attack enemies who are out of range.
 
Oh you guys, I haven't gotten out of the starting area yet. I step through the white light onto a ledge and then die.

Well, at first I stood on the ledge and thought where can I go? This huge fat thing bashes the ledge and I die. So next I think I managed to jump I land on the thing then get off then it stomps me, I die. Then I become retarded and can't even land on the creature so I just splat onto the ground.

I did find the lock on button though.

Are you still trying to play this with a keyboard and mouse?
 
Ugh, the Capra Demon just killed me 10 times in a row. Crazy stuff. If he doesn't slam me into the ground the moment I step through the gate, the dogs pin me down until he can kill me. I've tried making a run for the stairs like I used to do, but it doesn't seem to work anymore. :(
