MyGaming Activity: Ideas and Discussion

Great thread. I try and contribute wherever I can. It would be awesome to see mygaming someday be as popular as mybroadband.

Bringing back the classifieds section would boost viewer and potential members.

You had my curiosity, you now have my attention....

But do feel free to add any and all ideas you may have about getting more activity! My list of things are merely ideas and suggestions, and I welcome any other ideas as well.

The biggest obstacles will probably to get people to gain interest and also to maintain that interest. Also I know a lot of us are very busy. But those of us who love MyGaming can put in a special effort and see how it goes. I'm prepared to help. So DieGrootHammer, let me know when you need us to do things and lets see who will do what. Is it alright if you lead the whole thing?

I would like to see more opinions on the ideas though, and maybe more ideas as well, before springing into action. Also, I would love to hear what any of the mods has to say, if they think these ideas are good/bad/mediocre and most importantly, feasible. In the end it is their forum that we are using, and at the end of the day they have the final say in any big changes that might be made.

Just a gentle bump to keep this in your minds. I would really like to hear some more ideas from the community, or just some discussion on the current ideas mentioned. Are the ideas mentioned good/bad? Will it be something you are interested in?
 
I think there are some awesome ideas and I would love to participate in the gaming competitions. That could be a lot of fun. I tend to just say what I need or want in the various threads, but I hate repeating everything that others have said.

No I don't! :D I wonder if everyone that has an XBox One has Forza 5. Maybe we can pick a track a week and a car class and see who can set the fastest lap. Or something like that.
 
We should also encourage the guys who used to blog to continue, that side of this site has died and it was really interesting. Another idea is to try and get a thread where if people have let's say YouTube channels or something similar to help promote mygaming:) (just a thought) it would be cool to see our logo on anything :) I think the shirts and stuff would be awesome to(although difficult to do). Why not host Lan in the different regions? Or hold meets and little comic days or anime days or COD days where fans of the above can meet and kinda spread the word of mygaming(it may attract people and their friends to check out the site). I know some of these are hard to do... but just a suggestion.
 
I like the Gaming Leaderboards idea. I'm always interested in how I'm faring against other people in the country. I always try to join South African guilds and clans whenever I can.

I'd love to try make a Project Cars MyGaming custom car livery or two. Well, try to make one anyway. :o [MENTION=289]Jan[/MENTION], any chance I could get a decent MyGaming logo somewhere?

So, an update on this. I would still want to know what the staff of MyGaming think about this, and if there is going to be any overstepping of boundaries and such. Also, I've been stupidly busy the past few weeks, but I will get my ass in gear and start working on implementing some of these ideas. Also, if anyone wants to take initiative, steal any of the ideas here and implement it yourself, please be my guest and do just that.
 
The Local competitive gaming scene is booming, and Mygaming should take advantage of this and perhaps get more involved in some way or another.
I have been slacking lately, but always try to post when and where local CSGO events are happening

Here's the progress I've made on the MyGaming branded Aston Martin Rapide S Hydrogen Hybrid custom livery for ProjectCARS over the weekend. Focused on the rear side panels so still a heck of a lot to do, but open for any comments, suggestions, critiques, pointers in the right direction at this point, before I go too far.

On the sunny California coast in the sun:

[MENTION=15883]GregRedd[/MENTION] that's looking pretty amazing. Well done. I like the usage of the various gaming, hardware and console logo's on the car, plus the blue fade is pretty epic looking. I wonder if you would be able to change it to a black background colour as well.

Thanks for the props DGH! I'm actually having a lot of fun with this little project. Will hopefully get some more time later today to do some more. When you say a black background are you thinking a complete black body or black instead of the blue or white in the fade? I could possibly even add black into the background and make it a 3 color gradient: black fading to blue fading to white?

Keep us posted on your progress. So I'm in no way artistic so I might me talking out of my ass here, but as an alternative to the blue, maybe a black fading from a grey would look awesome as well. I like the blue fade, and you should keep it like that.
 
Ok, I get you. The base is the easy part :) so will play around with a couple of body color combinations and see. Thanks for the feedback.
 
The time has come that some of these ideas gets put into action. Over the weekend I will be creating some of the threads as discussed in the OP as well as in the rest of this thread. if you have any suggestions for gaming challenges or any other suggestions, please let me know.

Awesome, I'll see if I can join you in some of those. My biggest problem at this time is well lack of time unfortunately. But I'd like to participate.
 
Bumping a little seeing as I didn't see this thread originally.

Anyway, I frequently pointed out to James that the forum activity was steadily decreasing with time and he always denied this, stating that behind the scenes his traffic stats proved otherwise. Don't really know what to make of that. Back then I said that increased quality of articles would likely lead to more traffic, seeing as back in Tinman's days the articles were very comprehensive and the forum was really rocking with activity. Articles nowadays are often very sparse on info or I just don't find them interesting and I'd hazard a guess at saying this is why so many of them see 0 or less than 5 responses in their forum threads. Although that's purely conjecture on my part, based on my own interest in what goes up on MyGaming.

For the last year or so I never actually visit the MyGaming page and I read about one in fifty articles, simply because there are better news sources elsewhere. I still maintain if we get articles with more substance we'd likely see a spike in forum traffic too. I don't know about any of you, but I can spend a hell of a lot more time discussing an in-depth preview of the upcoming Mad Max game than I can an article about how Xbox accidentally released the Ciri DLC early. I'd even help write articles of that nature from time to time, completely free of charge.

Also, don't underestimate how much traffic the opinion columns drew. Back in Tarryn's day she would get 100s of comments on a single opinion column. I miss that. Bring them back and get the guys cracking on controversial columns.
