Anyone ever heard of KK-Gaming.co.za?

Neither have I, at least until today. Let's see if you can spot the difference:

The most popular game in the world is getting physical

Rovio Entertainment has signed up Focus Multimedia as the exclusive distributor for the Angry Birds series.

The deal covers PC versions of all three games in the franchise for UK and Ireland, South Africa, plus Australia and New Zealand.

Focus Multimedia is distributed exclusively by Apex Interactive in South Africa. It will kick off in SA with the original Angry Birds on December 2nd, at a recommended retail price (RRP) of R149.95.

This will be followed by 20th Century Fox’s movie tie-in Angry Birds RIO, due before Christmas.

Angry Birds Seasons will follow in 2012. The first Angry Birds game has been downloaded more than half a billion times. The franchise has also branched out into merchandising, animation, and book publishing.
Quotable quotes

“Boxed retail is another way to reach a wider audience,” Rovio spokesperson Ville Heijari said. “Digital and mobile are still at the core of our business, but boxed retail is a good addition for taking the brand forward.”

Focus Multimedia’s MD Craig Johnson added: “Angry Birds is everywhere, successfully penetrating ever deeper into the mainstream on a daily basis. We’re thrilled to be Rovio’s distributor.”

“We at Apex Interactive are proud to be associated with the release of the first licensed version of any Angry Birds title in our territory, and we are confident in achieving successful sales. Apex Interactive and Focus Multimedia have a long standing relationship and the Angry Birds title will most certainly be one of the biggest releases that we will be launching from Focus for the festive season,” said Quinton Davie, Director: Product and Marketing, Apex Interactive.

They were spamming the MyG forum earlier. 'tis how I picked up on it. This is just one of MANY other copy-paste articles. No credit is given to MyG, or the original author of any of the articles.

Got to have a laugh at the epic fucking audacity.

Congratulations, MyGaming, you guys have your very own wannabes. That's how you know you rock ;)

Read at the bottom the origin is given as mygaming or mweb or whoever.

maybe he should get something better to do than saying we are copying freely available press statements.

Still, better recognition should be given to mygaming - like simply quoting a piece of the article and linking to the actual one.

Just to clarify here: you guys are just a guild and there is no profit being made from these articles via advertising revenue or otherwise?

Ly is on a war path :p

Little bit :)

I guess it's not my place to really get bent out of shape about this... I just find it pretty... brow-raising :p

That's what I'm thinking too. Take an excerpt and link to the rest of the article: that way MyG still gets revenue from clicks.

LOL...

Congratulations, any empathy you might have had from me just went out of the window.

You guys are nothing short of content thieves.

Yeah, if you want to post another site's articles, permission and credit is a necessary.

Not that it matters, that site hurt my eyes so bad, I doubt I'd ever go there again, and I reckon most people who aren't blind would stay away as well. No offense, but fugly site is fugly.

Does MyG receive any revenue from the articles you copied verbatim? No? Then please recheck who doesn't have a clue what they're talking about. kthx.

Maybe they have permission from MyGaming... If not (it sure doesn't sound like it), then it's rather disgusting. :(

So not only are you a thief, but an asshole as well now? Getting angry because you were caught with your hand in the cookie jar?

It's a dick move pasting the entire article on your own site, seeing as that removes the need for people to go to MyGaming.co.za. MyGaming relies on adverts and the like to generate money, and if people don't come here to read MyGaming articles, you're potentially costing them money. The fact that you're hosting adverts on KK just leads me to think that not only are you losing MyGaming revenue, you're stealing their articles to generate your own.

Ly, any links to where they were spamming the forums?

Your entire argument seems to indicate that you have no fucking clue how news sites work, so maybe try running one when you've got a bit more brains to back up your thoughts?

The thread was deleted. They were advertising their site and a competition on MyG's site. I'm not surprised it was deleted :)

So they're basically trying to make money off of articles they didn't write, then came and tried to advertise on the very site they were stealing from? (giving credit doesn't mean it's not stealing)

Lawl.

omg you must seriously reevaluate your life maybe. kk gaming is a clan. we post news from mostly mygaming and gamezone to support both parties. we dont generate any money from any of our adverts. we are not in mygamings business its a clan. and the given article that this thread came from is from apex and vaughn golden is a senior account manager at apex and is known as slaghoender in kk.

Ah, okay. In that case you're not stealing, just withholding possible revenue from MyGaming. Good going.

I wanted to explore the site further, but my eyes are starting to water so I can't see. :o
