Following on from the suggestions made by [MENTION=9789]DieGrootHammer[/MENTION] and [MENTION=12523]DuckKnuckle[/MENTION] in the MyG "Virtual" LAN thread, I have taken the liberty of creating a Discord Server for MyGaming. (Discovered it when I had TeamSpeak issues playing Project Cars).

For those who don't know about Discord:

It's a fairly new system so does have the odd issue, but in the couple of months since I first used it there has been rapid and significant improvements. I use the desktop app on my PC, and the iOS apps on both my phone and iPad. All 3 are a pleasure to use.

Voice quality is generally good, I can use my phone for in-game comms while I'm on the PC, it's cross-device and platform enabled, system wide push-to-talk is there, text chat is slick and integrated into the same screen so that if I can't use voice for whatever reason I can easily post text, and the text channels are image, link and video enabled. It's just a pretty cool system.

Discord can also be used in a browser without having to download anything, but with slightly reduced functionality.

I've set up the server with myself as an admin, but am more than happy to hand it over to someone more official if required. Also, if it's a thing the community thinks we could benefit from, and one that will be used, I'll definitely need to make a couple of MyGers moderators so that channels and stuff can be better managed.

But, maybe let's give it a few days through the weekend to see if it works. I'll be in and out of the channel over the next few days, but if I'm not and you need any help, send me a Discord DM and I'll try to get in as soon as possible.

Not 100% certain, but don't think so. From what I can remember, the game ID system works off a database of known game .exe's. When you run Discord it checks for running .exe applications and sees if there's a matching game for it in their database.

Anyone know who SullyMLGPro is on Discord? He jumped into the Heroes of Diablocraft channel where I was waiting for the usual crowd to join and he opened with a delightful "Whaddup, bitch!"

Before bringing down the banhammer I thought I'd find out if anyone knows him first.

Am I the only one who has not jumped onto the discord train?
What exactly is it? A replacement for Team Speak or what?

Yep. It works very well. We use it when the MyGaming people play something together. For instance Jan uses it when they play Diablo 3. Or we'll use it this Friday when we play Andromeda. :)

What makes it better than TS? What I like about TS is the simplicity. Coms and thats it

Discord offered a simpler user experience overall, IMO. It also handles server downtime and fail-over better.

It happened a few times that the TS servers we used would go down on the nights we wanted to use it and then we first had to make a plan for a different server, different channel, new passwords, etc., etc., before we could play.

Discord is all "cloud based" and whatnot. Like last night when the West Europe server we've been using zonked out, I just switched us to the Central Europe server and everything kept going seamlessly.

Will definitely start using it. Just scared to hop onto the MyG server. This voice is a gift and a curse :/

I'm not the best talker and it took me a while to finally join. Now I just accept that other people have to deal with it. :D

Come join us this Friday. Even if you don't play Andromeda. [MENTION=2399]czc[/MENTION] also joined us the other day.

I use TS Lots. Kind of forced to with all of the clannies and matches that I am constantly playing! =D

I have a fun Mystic Ally build this season that I'm pretty sure will cream T6. Cow Level + Ruins of Secheron + a few Rifts and we'll have you at 70 and with your Haedrig's Gifts in no time.
