I'm not a petty teenager, whose hormones are out of control.

He and I are friends. Besides - he has his eyes set on another woman.
 
It finally got to me today, we have 2 bloody ad banners at the top of the page ..... why not 1 top and 1 bottom? Do we really have to be annoyed before we even scroll down to what we want to read, yeesh.

I think there are a number of factors at play. Does your adblock also block Effective Measures? If it has a lick of bloody sense it does--that pop-up survery thing is frikking annoying. But that's also what MyBB/MyG use to gauge unique hits to their pages and use to lure advertising interest/revenue in with.

Unfortunately I can't recall how it works but, what I do know, is that it's one of the sites I frequent and trust, so I tolerate ads. Just like I'm happy to allow ads on GameSpot, Escapist, Kotaku, etc. Because I like to support the sites I frequent in whatever small way that I can.

As you say, it's your choice, but I just feel a little :wtf: about it :)

I don't use Tapatalk so I don't know how that works regarding revenue streams :(

I had to google "effective measures". Yes, apparently mine does, but hasn't been updated in the addon itself for some time.

The main reason I use adblock is because I generally don't trust most websites. Any website can be compromised, and all it takes is for an ad to be injected with malicious code to ruin your day. It's not my intent to rob MyG or any website of revenue. I typically access MyG from two PCs, like a lot of people here. One I use for work, finances, etc., and I am very particular about keeping it clean, so I would not be likely to risk lowering my security on it at all. But my PC that I use for gaming, downloading mods etc., I am not as worried about.

Has MyG ever hosted a fundraiser of some sort, or do they accept donations? Because it's my belief that would be a better route for people here who want to contribute. And it would be worth it perhaps for those who might want an ad-free experience for whatever reason, too. :)
