Some exciting news this Monday morning.

MyGaming now supports @mentions, quote notifications, user tagging, and hashtags.

Example: "Hey, qornea, Kevin... Get back to work!"

You can also tag users to notify them about a specific thread, or to indicate that it might be of specific interest to them (in case they missed it) without @mentioning them in a post. The box for user tagging is below every thread.

Some of you may have already started receiving e-mails when people quote your posts. The system notifies you in two ways: e-mail and via the forum notifications menu.

You can change the default behaviour via User CP. For the direct link to the relevant settings menu, click this: User Tagging Settings.

As for hashtags... I hate them, but I'm willing to give them a shot. Maybe they actually turn out to be useful.

I did notice a few new notifications, and in my Gmail, the "forums" tab is finally seeing a little action :D

Havent the Tom (insert any other person) been working for a while though?

I have never understood the point of Hash tagging every second word in a sentence!
#saynotohashtags

Ya, I have an intense dislike for the way people use hashtags these days, they just make tag a bunch of random words, and none of them individually make any sense as a tag, so it's a complete waste and totally pointless.

Jan, Is there a way to disable these emails that you receive whenever someone quotes / responds to a message? I cannot find it in my profile. The little notice in MyG is nice but the extra email is a bit overkill for me.

Yup! The information is in the OP. I have now made it bold. Here's the direct link to the settings page (right at the bottom of the User CP menu) - http://mygaming.co.za/forum/usertag.php?do=profile&action=options

Jan, Please ignore my deleted message :)

Thanks Jan :), i did not notice the options and then after noticing them i did not read the little description that says you have to tick the option to disable them, thanks again.

AlienTaker - doen net dai stappe. . . .

i used the mention tags in the advanced post window - also tried without mention the mention tags. they are not making links like the others. i also notice that with the mention tags it is putting a ';' after the name. the coding seems broken for my post.

Did you try without the font changes? I'm not sure if they'll pick up on an edit or not, I actually wanted to test that out, but didn't feel like making anyone my guinea pig...

Testing mentions for phalen, Solitude, and Dohc-WP.

my @mention does not seem to work - http://mygaming.co.za/forum/showthr...ty-Giveaways?p=1052032&viewfull=1#post1052032

For some reason the IDs in your mention tags were messing. I removed the font styling and tried a simple @mention, and it worked. Then I added the font styling back in and it still works.

Try @mentioning me in this thread normally, and then in COLOR and SIZE tags, please.

I'm also curious to know if you get notification for any mentions (or adding a new quote for that matter) in an edit.
