MyGaming Steam Community Giveaways

Serious question, when are you going to play all these games you've won?

I'm starting to think you're a hoarder :p

Interesting how people are hating on me for winning that much. I will stop entering comps for a month if I win Skyrim... deal? :)

I don't want to open this can of worms. :wtf: Uh, I think by saying that you're not really getting why people are "hating on you". On a side note, that's a poor choice of words, don't try and make yourself a victim. It's not that you've won a metric ton of games - 111 games worth $1,518.40, I haven't run the numbers but I think that's more than anyone else here - but that you haven't played the majority of them. That's the point, from my understanding, of this group. To giveaway games that other people will actually play, not just collect for no reason.

Yeah, me and everyone in this group has a backlog. But, damn dude, you've won R15k worth of games. And most of them are good games as well. Everyone is busy with work, kids, whatever, but you haven't played a game on Steam in a least two weeks according to your profile. So why are you still entering almost everything then?

I'm starting to think that someone smarter than me needs to come up with a solution to this, that will actually make people think about the giveaways they enter. Some people only enter for the games they want, others don't. I've been running through some possible solutions in my head, but they all seem to be double edged swords, that could ultimately cause less giveaways to be made, resulting in less people winning, and less activity happening in the group. Which is not what anyone wants, but you can't deny that an issue has formed.

This...ever since the whole "what, I actually need to activate the games I win? Thought I could just do what I please with it..." situation its never really stopped feeling like you enter every single giveaway for the sake of entering and possibly winning. Majority of people here will enter games they either really want or (this includes me, I'm not ashamed to say it either) are at least curious/interested in having a look at. And this is why it feels like the reason you're winning so much is because you're entering all of them and statistics takes over and you seem to be on a "streak".

Hopefully I've placed my words like "feeling" and "seems" right, since this is all speculation and assumption on how people are perceiving it...maybe I've just never gotten over feeling a little cheated at you winning Sleeping Dogs and giving it to someone off-forum (if i wanted a non-Mygaming member to have it, i'd have made a public giveaway. My giveaways are always intended to be a thank you to Mygaming people as well as those that have themselves contributed, hence CV requirements).

Ok, I'll weigh in here now as well. If you do a GA for the group, it's for the group as a whole. If you want to give back to those that give, set a CV/level. If you don't intend playing the game don't enter, if you're not in the least interested in the game don't enter.

Hell, my steam library is biggish and due to data constraints I can only download a handful of titles a month. Apart from that I am an obsessive completionist so I churn through my library constantly. Hell, I need to finish Borderlands 2, but I'm too busy with ETS2 and Hearthstone at the moment. I want to get all the achievements for XCOM, but I lack Enemy Within. That's all between packing up the house, feeding myself, conference calls, general work stuff and dealing with my kid.

Keep entering if you're a player and not a collector. Fishy out.

I've stopped entering the give-aways for the reason that I'm so back-logged with games that there is no way that I'm going to be able to play any of the games that I do win here. Plus most of my gaming has been done on the Xbox One in any case.

But I've also grown a bit disconnected from this thread, because it's a bit infuriating seeing people win games given away by the community for the community, but those winners just stay in this threat. I whole idea of this thread when it started was a way of giving back to the general MyGaming community. But honestly, people can't just be active in this thread and expect to be part of the community. It seems greedy. You are basically just here for the possibility of free games.

Guys, if you don't want someone to enter your giveaways, just blacklist them, no need for drama. If you want to discuss this any further please create a new thread, this one is for giveaways.

All giveaways are provided by users in the community. Users manage their own giveaways, choose when they start, when they end, and who is able to enter. Once their giveaway ends, a random winner is generated by steamgifts, and the giveaway creator receives the necessary information to contact the winner in order to send the gift.

amazing! been wanting this for ages but not enough moola to buy with all the other games i pre-order. thanks for the GA!

It's a pleasure. :)

As for everyone else, I would appreciate it if as many people enter as possible. No matter who you are or what you've been drinking. Even if your breath smells or if your sister is really hot. It's a game worth playing and even though I shouldn't care, I would like the giveaway to count towards my level. I'm vain like that. All Batman style.

I'd enter, but I own the game. I can highly recommend it to everyone though.

Thanks, but I will skip this one as I have it on PS3. It was amazing so whoever wins it will get an awesome game. Hope you get enough entries for loads of lvl's. lol. :)

As long as he complies with the give-away conditions I don't see any problem with it. Some people like Wyvern stipulate that if you have won something from her within the last month please don't enter again. So more people should adopt things like that and the problem will sort itself out. We can implement a penalty system where if you break the conditions 3 times you get kicked out of the group for a week, then a month, then forever. etc
