As AlphaJohn said, depends what type of game you're looking for. DSIII is an average (at best) action RPG, I lost interest after about 2 hours.

I would only recommend Payday 2 if you're looking for something to play co-op. From what I've plaid the friendly AI is pretty terrible and since the game requires teamwork it is not fun at all trying to play with bots.

According to many Half Life 2 is one of the best games ever made, and even though I am not a fan I would recommend it if you are looking for a FPS with a decent story.

Max Payne 3 would be my choice from all of those games. It is probably the best third person shooter I have ever played in terms of shooting mechanics and such. The unskippable cut-scenes can get annoying but it's how the game loads and you don't have to sit through the whole thing all of the time, you can skip once it's done loading the level (takes a while though).
 
Half-life 2 or MP3 for the single-player. But if you have some friends with payday that is definitely the game you will spend most time in. We have a group going and it is awesome fun. But as said above, the bots are pretty useless so you can't really rely on them too heavily. It won't be fun if you play single-player, but if you have at-least 1 other friend who will join you it is awesome.

PS. If we have an open slot you are always welcome to join.

Add me on steam, my mate from Brazil and I have gotten pretty good at stealthing most stealthable heists. We're +- 60 and play late in the evenings, and I can play most afternoons if its quiet :D

Neither of us have any preference over what games to play or how :)
