The MyGaming forum should redirect to the mobile version automatically. If your phone can't pick it up... Not much we can do.

There is no direct link to the mobile forum, because we haven't implemented styles.

The MyBB forum has styles from some legacy junk, and that's why you can use a direct link.

We won't implement styles on MyGaming because it's a giant pain in the ass every time you upgrade and everything breaks.

MyGaming benefits from our learning experiences with MyBB :P
 
I wish my phone would direct to the main layout. Any chance we can get a way to switch between that and the mobile layout at will? I use Opera Mini on my phone, and I prefer using the main layout for most sites, as opposed to the lacking mobile layout.

Silly question, but have you gone into Opera Mini's settings and set it to not identify as a mobile browser? That should help :p
 
Logged into to the forum using an HTC Desire and it also loaded the main layout as it did on my phone.

So yeah, an option to switch between main layout and mobile layout would be very useful.
 
I'm pretty sure at some point this has been asked before, but can we not get a system whereby admins and the thread op can lock a thread? This will cut down a lot on spammers. Just now, the one about someone asking for speakers for PC or console. Op has posted he bought a certain set and yet two brand spanking new forumites have posted afterwards giving their opinions despite the op stating he is sorted.

Just a thought and a suggestion.

Ok so seeing as the forum has been over taken by one liners again. Can you please implement a new rule when joining to enter a comp.

New members need to introduce themselves to the forum.

They need to state what gaming platform they prefer
The last 5 games they purchased


If they don't introduce themselves in the thread and adhere to the 2 other rules when introducing they will be disqualified from whichever comp they entered for.

I get that the comps are a good way to get more people to the site, but sometimes like right now it completely ruins the forum.
 
Phew... good thing I am not that new, because I don't think I have even bought 5 games in my life....

Well, that was until I found Steam and made some purchases over Thanksgiving weekend... :)

Maybe I should just stop putting a minimum post count requirement in the competition rule thread. In the general forum rules it also says that a minimum of 20 posts is required to enter a competition unless otherwise stated, and you have to read the rules when you sign up. That way we'll easily see who isn't reading the full forum rules properly and people won't think they have to spam their way to 20 posts (a fruitless exercise I might add).

I'm going to take a look at the sign up rules and procedures over December when things are a little quieter.

Thanx I know you guys must hate me by now lmao xD

I just feel that they ruin the forum for the time being, I have seen a couple of guys that actually participate and actually show interest in the forum and adding valuable comments and info ect, so its not all bad, but it really gets unbearable sometimes xD
 
It's a bit of pain we have to deal with occasionally :) Need to keep the forum growing, and the competition are a lot of fun for everyone (I hope). There will always be those who add nothing to the community, but as many have pointed out, they were drawn by a competition and realised how cool a place a forum can be when you find one that serves your interests and has a friendly community to interact with.

So, the one-registration wonders will die out after the competition, and hopefully some cool new people will remain. This is also why we keep the barrier to entry low; a bit more admin from our side, but participating must never be prohibitive.
 
Hey, I was also a compo memebr, but you know what, I read the posts and liked them and got involved. I don't only spam 20 posts each time a compo came around.

What is annoying is these okes that revive threads that are old and forgotten and for those using smartphones which have the most recent posts listed first, well you can picture it.

I like the suggestion about leaving out the post limit condition in each comp thread. Rather replace it with a have you read the terms and conditions listed under *insert link* here line in which the rules are stated. I know this has also been said about 2 million times, but I would consider increasing the post limit to 50. Really not that high that it can not be reached reasonably in a weeks time, but maybe just enough to deter One post, one line wonders. I fully understand the forums need constant growth in it's numbers to prove to advertisers that it is worthwhile advertising on Mygaming and comps are a great way to attract new members, but wouldn't we rather have quality over quantity?
 
Don't stress guys, I'm home for the holidays so if need be I'll take over if you guys go away. ;)
