What may be interesting to you is different for others and I post them for friends to see instead of pming everytime then sometimes a pc thing.

Blogs is like 14% of my activity so doubt it affects anything

Sorry, Ichigo, but I have to agree with Mephisto here. Whether you were abusing the blog feature for points or not is something I'm not going to comment on, but at the moment you're not really using the blog for what I think its intended purpose is. We've got both a funny images and a joke thread in the off topic forum, both of which are much better suited to posting images and jokes in.

The blog feature is a place where people can write their personal thoughts, little articles, game reviews or whatever else doesn't really fit anywhere else on the forum. I use it as my personal soapbox, a place to do write-ups on interesting games/mods I've come across or a place where I try to write satirical posts that probably fail. :p

The point being, if you're not putting a lot of effort into writing the blog post, you're probably writing it for the wrong reason. If people want to read jokes or look at funny pictures, they go to the threads dedicated to them. You might think it shouldn't be a problem for people because they don't have to read yours if they don't want to, but it makes it difficult to find blog posts if they have to sift through a bunch of funny picture and joke posts when looking for new blog posts here. Nobody likes sifting through spam.

Anyway, I really enjoy the blog feature and I want to post blogs more often, but things have been a bit busy the past week.
 
Well I dont think my joke pictures would fit into the funny images threads since they are about politics and not the usual jokes unless you really want to see them there flashing in front of you instead of hidden in my blog for friends to see.

No one should be able to see them now besides my friends forgot to do those settings before :p

I'm not quite sure why you think your jokes don't fit in the jokes thread simply because they're political in nature? There are tons of political jokes/pictures in those threads.

Well there isn't any rules on how one can use a blog so if it bothers you so much ask James to make some then.

I havent seen any politics in the Jokes/Image forum yet unless it was early in the threads.

Hey, all I'm saying is that there are much more appropriate places for jokes and funny pictures. In times of competition posting jokes and pictures as blog posts certainly makes it look like you're farming points, which is a very valid concern and it's for this reason that James suggested the blog post moderation queue.

I still don't get why you seem to be adamant that political jokes shouldn't go in the joke threads. A joke's a joke, no matter the subject matter.

You haven't been to the joke thread recently I take it. It seems that lately people are camping in there and waiting to become offended so they can rage about it.
 
Nah, I've not been going there very often lately. I'm kinda getting that idea from reading the bible thread in the MyGaming News section, though. Seems people are very easily offended lately.

MH is right, you can't just blog a funny pic. There are certain standards, like look at Graal's, Saint_Dee's or Joker's blogs to get an idea. It has to be educative/fun to read. What you are doing now is abusing the blog system -.-
 
As for blogs, I don't think they should be used for jokes and images. That's not what really defines a blog. I suppose I'll have to write up some guidelines at some point when we make it a bit more prominent on the forum page.

I get points way easier and quicker with posts so no need to blog for points.

Guess I will have to start pming my friends them now since people dont like it

Or you could create your own blog outside of MyGaming, like Tydmors does, you could even make a few bucks out of it if you do it right and can convince all your friends to go there regularly.

I guess you haven't been on the internet very long then. :wtf:

You can try out Blogger and Wordpress, I'm sure there are plenty of others as well.
