MyGaming suggestion box

This is something that has been bugging me from the start! The scrolling headlines on the front page doesn't follow the norm, when you middle mouse button click to open the headline in a new tab it opens it in the current tab, meaning a cant click on a bunch of the headlines, and right clicking on the headline and selecting open in new tab opens the front page in a new tab so that I have two front page tabs instead of a front page tab and a news article tab.
Please help! I'm loosing my mind :(

Yeah, my middlemouse click simply opens another frontpage. It's annoying, because often I want to read the articles, and they're not listed anywhere else on the front-page, meaning I have to go into the News section first.

Spam much?

Just ignore him. He's been spamming the forum all week. Just another competition whore.

The middle-mouse click thing bugs me too...

Hopefully it won't crop up in the redesign.

Just an update on that: looks like our developers are on an extended peyote binge in Mexico. They should be back to work shortly. The fabled 'login to comment' system will be a reality!

The little I know from coding it should be 2 maybe 3 lines of code at most to fix. Well fixing is the wrong work, implement rather :P

What I was thinking is why is there not a specific for sale section in the different consol sections, e.g In PC games a PC games sales thread, In PS3, Xbox Wii for sale section, PC Hardware a for sales section I am sure you get the idea, I think it would make it a lot easier to look for stuff you want to buy in its speficic consol section

Thanks for the suggestion but it would actually make things more complicated and probably messier. Spreading out the point of interaction isn't a good idea either.

The way is stands, people have titles across multiple platforms, and they can list everything in one post.

Having everything in one thread makes it much easier to conduct a simple search for the title you are looking for.

Makes sense to not spread it over separate sub-forums, but why not a sub-forum specifically for classifieds? If each item for sale has its own thread users can see at a glance what items are for sale without missioning through one long post.

Hmmm, though I don't know how much activity it'd see with other classified forums around (MyBB, PS3ZA, etc.).

I still think you guys should have a classifieds section, with a proper Itrader/rep system.
It will bring a lot of new members, not to mention increased traffic to the site, which in the end is what you guys are aiming for.
A proper classifieds thread that is well moderated will be a great add on, I've spoken to tinman about it but alas..No result.

Hi guys, thanks for the suggestions.

Do you want something like we have over on MyBroadband?

http://mybroadband.co.za/classifieds/

I think we should put similar rules in place. 50 post minimum and 3 month-old account before anyone can post. This establishes them as a trustworthy community member and prevents spammers.

Thoughts?

Alternatives?

Might not be a terrible idea. As for 'trustworthiness', carbonite.co.za has a wonderful "iTrader" system, where users get ranked according to their sales. Therefore you can browse a person's track record where he was rated by the buyer/seller. E.g. I bought a racing cycle off there recently. Seller has a 100% track record for 8/8 sales, which means he's pretty trustworthy & I could read the reviews of buyers who used him. In turn, he gave me a 100% review as being a nice buyer who pays on time etc.

It's a basic system that may require some time to set up, but very useful....otherwise the 3 month / minimum postcount / whatnot feature is fine.

Oh ... and is it possible to remove the GoW3 backgrounds from the forum section at least? Seeing as they only span the first bit of the page (and go away the further you scroll down).

I've been experiencing terrible lagspikes ever since it was introduced and even forum post features get all funky from loading.

(Also that black stain in the middle of the background makes me worry that my screen is dirty each time. :( )

Not a fan of the Mybb classifieds, because they just don't work properly.
I do like the 50 post minimum and 3 month old account before posting rule.
Also you guys will have to add a rep system, something like Itrader.

There should be a classifieds section, just like there are pc gaming, console gaming ect.
There should also be a prefix when selling, like for instance I would like to sell a game then you would need to select game from a list or from drop down tab if possible, same for hardware ect.

No idea why it would cause you to lag. It's a very small file and it should get cached on your side.

Unfortunately it can't just be removed on a whim; it's advertising and it helps keep the MyGaming website afloat :)

My apologies, didn't know it was a revenue generator. If it means moar-free-prizes, then keep it going! \o/

I've found a solution to the middle-mouse click issue. Instead of clicking on the title, mouse over the article you want to open, then carefully mouse over the picture next to it, and click there. Opens the article for me.

My fucking hero!

Where have you been for.... like... EVER?

Thanks!

I have to admit one of the reasons I love mygaming is the lack of a proper classified section. I feel there are more than enough good sites that one can use for selling or trading.

IMO if we implement a full classifieds section, it shouldn't detract from the current forum and news website in any way; just make it easier for people to sell/buy/swap stuff.

Yeah, no offence, but I've never understood this. Why are there always people who don't want something implemented, even if it really isn't going to make any difference to them?
