The TK thread is filled with the regulars and if they only post there without adding anything to the rest of the forum their "posts" are a lot more on say any given day than the average regular poster in other threads simply because they are not as active.

I couldn't agree more, but on the flip side the TK thread is still apart of the site as a whole. Also "Regulars" i have found are a nice bunch and welcome anyone new to partake in the convo's. I mentioned getting a new dog today for example and it went on over nearly 2 pages ( big woopee ) but the proof is their that if you all partake in it, and its your choice, then it shouldn't be excluded should it?

This is called mygaming, if people don't want to post about their day and lives then should they be excluded from the comp?

Sure i understand where your coming from Pooky, but with that same logic we should remove everything not related to gaming then dont you think?

Well no, if you want to post other things then fine... I just think that gaming should be given priority...

That's why I also have an issue with the cross posting of articles. More and more the same things are on mybb and mygaming.... why have 2 sites?

Well, the site serves all that come in some shape or form in the forums. Excluding 1 part of it because it holds a threat seems unfair for those partaking in it.

I have no comment about why there is a sister site to mybb, only that it probably serves the purpose of the "possibly" younger generation /shrug

Anyways this is the suggestion thread after all. so my 2 cents may or may not be valid...its still just suggestion :)

The problem is that TK has always been sort of a post-whoring thread. I post there myself from time to time, but many of the posts in that thread would go through as spam in other threads.

And at the risk of being chided, TK doesn't really contribute anything to the forum. It's a nice chat thread and I've met some really cool people in there, but I don't think it's fair to make it part of the competition. Posting in TK shouldn't really be considered contributing value to the forum, which is ultimately what this competition is about.

Okay but why? Are you trying to thin out your competition?

The point of the post limit is to make sure members win, not some fly by night brat. IMO the members of TK are usually the most dedicated members on the site.
 
As an TK regular, you'd expect me to jump to it's defense - but I'll just say this:

It is a general chat thread, so broad in scope it's pretty much unidentifiable (so I get why it shouldn't be taken into account - although good luck to James sorting through which posts came from where) - but in between the pictures of food, beer and fluffy animals, we DO actually get through some pressing topics. For example, if I need help with something or advice on a purchase I'll ask in there instead of starting a new thread. Nine times out of ten I'll get an answer (and probably several naughty gifs and a movie trailer).
At the end of the day, I known these people for years and I've made a lot of good friends so I'm willing to give up an Xbox for that. :p

Moral, ethical, pragmatic, and philosophical debates aside, from a technical standpoint, I cannot discount individual threads from the points system.

is the front page getting Xbox one ps4 and wii u tabs alongside the current ones like on IGN or are you guys going to replace the current generation tabs permanently ?

Hope they have their own separate tab for all 3 you mentioned and leave the rest how it is since when the PS4 and Xbox one come out there will be a lot of traffic there which I dont want to see it smothering the other systems.
 
So, dem blogs. Any way to get more exposure for the blog section of the forums? I get the feeling a lot more people would use it if it wasn't so hidden away. Nobody wants to write if nobody ends up reading it.

I think I'll keep it how it is, as Xbox, and Wii is a good catch-all for those platforms. The PS3 label can be revised to "PlayStation".

While there might be a bit of cross-over, once the new consoles launch I think most news will be around the new systems.
