I just wanted to know why the MyGaming newsletter contains almost no gaming news (I unsubscribed so it doesn't bother me so much)
I also wanted to know what the official policy is regarding multiple threads about the same topic, since nobody (especially the MyGaming staff) follows the ones listed in the forum rules.

The newsletter is designed to attract people to the site with the best headlines that we know work from experience. We have metrics on click rates for the newsletter and we can gauge what works best. For a frequent reader such as yourself, it probably doesn't appear to serve a purpose, but then again, you may likely have checked out all the gaming articles already, so would it really be valuable to see links to articles you have already read?
We post links to all the MyGaming news articles - this will always happen and there are logical editorial and site operation reasons for doing this. When topics are exactly the same, then they will be merged - I often do this with news articles (you may not have noticed
). I saw your reports about the Xbox threads. What you might consider to all be about the same topic (the Xbox One) doesn't look that way to us. I see the individual topics around the Xbox One as separate. This allows people to focus discussion on a specific issue, and there is of course the general Xbox One discussion thread for everything and anything related people want to bring up. These thread topics also return in Google searches which is a good way to get traffic to the site.
That covers threads posted by MyGaming staff. While I do keep an eye on things, I can't see every thread created, and if there are duplicate topics, it helps to report them so we can take a look.

I think I understand, it's just a bit frustrating when you want to add new information, or even a joke you found, to a topic, and you don't know which of the dozens of threads to post it in (or to make yet another thread). That's my main gripe.

I have a suggestion im sure its been mentioned before ... how about removing the 10 char rule

Wouldnt affect me at all since I usually post quite a lot of words so the character limit wont affect me on April fools day unless they remove smileys

Here's a suggestion - how about reinforcing the rule about taking every bloody thread off topic and letting them become dozens of little TK's? Forum activity, woot ......... a forum means shit when every meaningful thread is just a bunch of twits off topicing.

Nah, I'm with MH on this one. TK was started with the sole purpose of taking off topic chat out of the other threads. There is no use to every other thread not being on topic, since we then get inundated by new threads for the same topic..

I've also noticed this happening a lot more than it should. I'm not going to point out any names, but it often seems to be the same groups of people doing it. Especially threads on competitive FPSes tend to turn into threads where certain members decide to catch up with each other's lives.
