Mygaming Survey

The little box keeps popping up asking if I'd like to do a survey, which I click yes to, but then nada happens. Then every time I open a new page, it keeps popping up again.

Is it just me?

When I clicked the survey it told me error some module failed to load but once I acknowledged the message I was able to fill in the survey anyway, only to be accosted by another one on myBB.

So there could be something wrong with the survey.

I'm using Chrome by the way.

Hi guys,

That's the Effective Measure survey. They are the stat tracking company used by the DMMA, which most publishing websites in SA will belong to.

Effective Measure was implemented in April and we've had various problems with it since then. We have contacted Effective Measure reporting various problems, including those such as described above.

Thanks for trying to fill it out though :)

It works fine for me, however I've filled it out previously, but it still keeps popping up

It works on cookies, so if you've ever cleared your third-party cookies, it will pop up again.

Ah that explains it. Thought it would have worked on the user account rather. I suppose using cookies means that you don't have to be registered to do the survey

Thanks James.

FOr what it's worth, I'm using Firefox v3.6.18

I was finding that the reply editor was giving me problems with Firefox 3.6.something. I installed Firefox 5, and now it's working fine. I have a feeling that the site has started using HTML5 functionality, and it's not working so lekker in older browsers

MyGaming survey

/window pops up- again.

No thanks, geez! I've already done it! Why you asking me the whole time?

Just so you all know, blocking the Effective Measure script literally removes you from our stats counter, effectively making you invisible in our stats report, which directly hurts our business.

We have logged the issue with Effective Measure, and hopefully it will be resolved soon.

You also have Google Analytics, which doesn't feel the need to be intrusive, so I permit that. Surely that would be a vastly more accurate stats report to even begin with?

Also, I allow ads through for MyGaming >.>

Effective Measure does more than just the survey; they also track visitor stats. Any website that is a member of the DMMA will be using Effective Measure to measure their site traffic and will be using those statistics for the purposes of marketing the websites to advertisers and measuring their performance in the SA internet space.

If you guys fill out the survey and keep the third party cookies from Effective Measure (in theory) this means the survey shouldn't be bugging you again.

The survey helps SA marketers to figure out which demographics and websites they will find best suited to advertise their products, as well as provides some interesting insights into the internet landscape of South Africa.

I know adverts are annoying, but this is how published content on the internet remains 'free', so to speak.

While Google Analytics provides a similar statistic tracking service, they do it slightly differently to Effective Measure.

Effective Measure is the yardstick by which all South African DMMA registered websites are measured, and how they are compared.

As Tinman pointed out, if you block Effective Measure, you are essentially invisible to us ;_; We do so love to see how well the site is growing and if we're pleasing our readership :)

I will merge with the other thread.

*sigh* Can't I just donate a kidney to you guys?

What about offering a monthly subscription with NO ADS (including EffectiveMeasure?)...

I really don't see myself warming up to it any time soon....
