All NAG LAN attendees that wish to make use of the shower and gym facilities at the Virgin Active @ Northgate will gain free access by showing your LAN wristband at reception and signing into their guest register for the duration of the Expo.

The gym operating hours are as follows:

Friday: 05h00-20h00
Saturday:06h00-19h00
Sunday: 06h00-14h00

Regarding Games that will be played.

Below is a list of games we have tested so far
• Team Fortress 2
• Battlefield 3
• MW3
• Counter Strike GO
• DOTA 2
• DOTA
• Diablo III
• Starcraft
• COD Black OPS
• LoL
• HON

Still to test is Quake Live

These games should be accessible from the LAN (almost any Steam game for that matter). The limited bandwidth is however of concern and game performance will vary. If the 20 lines that we have been allocated are oversubscribed performance will be impacted. Thus the games are tested and accessible, but we cannot guarantee that they will perform to expectations.

Please do note that the games will not update, so all games need to be updated before you leave home. Because bandwidth is limited per player it is up to you to ensure that no other bandwidth is consumed from your PCs other than what is required to play a particular game at a time. Failure to do so will impact on your game performance.

When connecting to Steam or the Battlefield client, it may take a while to log in. This is because the clients do updates and synching which require a large initial download. Because the bandwidth per player is limited, this update takes longer than it would on an unutilized 4M line. After this initial logging in the games performance will not be affected as long as we have bandwidth available.

Regarding internet connection.

There is not enough bandwidth for everybody to be open 100%. Surfing etc can wait for when you are bored on a rainy day. As per Guardians posting I have tested those specific games. They work fine and I have allocated bandwidth per player based on my testing. At the event there may be one or two aspects that I cannot replicate in my test environment, so we will need to handle them as they present themselves.

From my discussions with Telkom we should be in a much better place than last year, better line quality and no businesses or residential areas contesting bandwidth. With the exchange being new, there might be unexpected bugs, but if not it should work with a lot less hassle than last year.

With LOL etc updating every second day, that may present a problem, but we will see. Afrihost accounts tested and they seem to perform with low pings.

The only drawback we have is the limited amount of lines we have. Fortunately they are all 10M lines.

Quake live also works.

Telkom have a 100M line and we are bringing two online servers to the event for BF3. Thus they have 10x10M lines
