SA actually has an extremely dedicated Overclocking community and every year they are invited to GOOC (one of the premier overclocking events.) This year Vivi managed to come 7th overall. SA has also held records for many benchmarks so please get you facts straight before you go attacking people with no knowledge on the subject. (Ironic that you are complaining about someone doing the same thing)Being an overclocker and being fully capable of being a magazine's technical editor is a World of difference. Also saying he's one of our country's top overclockers is like trying to tell me the guys in bafana bafana are the best soccer players in our country...they still suck.
Okay that is a fair point but I never disagreed with that just said he is heavily involved in the IT industry and chances are if you are an overclocker you will be knowledgeable to other topics in the industry. Also overclocking is becoming quite a large part of knowing items. Take and i7 920 to someone who doesn't OC it is a 2.66ghz processor but to and one who can overclock it is a 4ghz beast waiting to be unleashed. Also any good overclocker learns how processors, motherboards and graphics cards work so they know how to volt mod them and push them to the limit. So being a good overclocker does not instantly make you qualified for the job but it can bring with it a whole bank of experience. You don't have to be an IT professional to be an overclocker either. Overclocking is tinkering with a motherboard, ram and CPU....it's ONE subject that he may or may not be good at, but, a technical editor needs WAY more knowledge on a LOT of other topics in the industry...so his overclocking achievements mean jack-shit when it comes to being a technical writer. PERIOD.
Pixels are not the only thing that determines quality think you need to read up more on this first. The facts are on the table. It was a larger monitor with LESS pixels than the previous one. That makes the image quality LESS. That means it's WORSE than the previous model.
He was actually brought in to write the overclocking section so am I not sure if he is the Tech Ed? You don't seem to be sure either think you should confirm this. You cannot argue with facts in the "technical" World. That is something Mr. Sibeko is trying to do and all it's doing for him is to show that he simply has no clue. Maybe if NAG had an "overclocking" section he could write for that section...
but calling him a "technical editor" for an entire magazine is just plain daft, what NAG seems to be these days anyways.
Basically read up on stuff before you attack things. You seem to be just having ago at everyone and everything TBH Just my 2c
