Jumpman's core gameplay is focused on diffusing bombs, whilst Mario Bros' is defeating enemies.

Pong on Atari.

Nope Pong wasn't original either, it was based off of Tennis that was made originally with an oscilloscope screen. There aren't any original games really. It's like asking name an original song, video, book etc.

That statement implies original thought does not exist and that everything that exists today has existed before and we have merely reproduced these thoughts. Thoughts which themselves couldn't have been original and thus must have been gained from an external stimulus, which leads to the logical conclusion.

IT WAS ALIENS!!!

I knew it, I suppose there was once, but it's very difficult to find in todays world as originality is generally shot down. We all must conform we are the borg is what happens, it's why there are some many shows about Vampires, why similar movies get released at almost the same time etc...
Especially when you consider the OP's original statement a game pulling nothing from anything else that has ever existed type statement, there is therefore no original games as they all pull from something ;-)

While the core ideas may no long be original the assembly of these ideas keep giving us unique games.
