Napping

Flex

Will lift for boobs!
So recently i found out that napping is quite a big part of some of the members daily lives here, that there has to be a thread about napping.

Napping is actually quite a technical thing. Not just all about closing you eyes and "sleeping", you have to watch what you consume and time your nap even O_o

Here are some tips to the perfect nap!

Naps should be 20 minutes or 90 minutes, and nothing in between.
Have caffeine right before you take a nap.
Surround yourself with a consistent noise level.
Target the afternoon slump.
It's okay if you don't actually fall asleep.
Lie down
Meditate
Turn down the thermostat.
Make your nap environment smell great.

Bwahahahahahahaha

I wish I could have that right now, I need one right now. tbh no idea why I am so tired, I get a solid 7 hours a night for the past week

For me naps, need to be comfy - I cant sleep at my desk its not comfy at all. That is the one bonus of going home for lunch, I get to curl up on my bed, in the little bit of winter sun and nap for 30mins

Tuesdays and Thursdays and Saturdays, when my lady comes over. first thing we do is nap/cuddle after lunch (if work is quiet).

:D

Cant do it, feels like i'm wasting time i could have spent on thing I want to do and also for some reason in the past when I have attempted this I feel crap afterward and have had instances where it feels like i'm having heart palpitations

I'm a fan of power naps and none of these recommendations I've ever heard of. Personally I believe a power nap should be around 20min give or take a few minutes, not the like of 90min. That will just make you more tired.

Feel exactly the same way. If I could cope with 0 sleep even... Damn that would be awesome!

yessss, then I wouldn't feel a shit as i do today because I went to bed late and only fell asleep at like 2am or something

If I take a 30 minute nap in the afternoon, there's no way I will fall asleep before 1am the next morning.
What works for me, is a 5 minute reboot.

I do enjoy a good siesta whenever the opportunity presents itself. That being said...

I don't time my siestas so I end up lapsing into a coma whenever I take one. :p

Same. sometimes on a saturday we "nap" for like a full 4-5 hours. its absolutely awesome.

yay its thursday! Already told my lady I cant wait for cuddles :D

They're all legit.

A full sleep cycle is 90 mins while the 20 mins is just enough to get into light sleep but not hit REM.

Caffeine hits 15-20 mins after you ingest it so the caffeine nap strategy can work out.

Afternoon slump - human circadian rhythms have a natural dip around mid day. Hence siestas being a thing in various cultures.

Lower temp - just needs to be comfortable. It's other way round...sleep will drop the body temp, rather than lower temp leading to sleep automatically.

Other ways to fk with the sleep cycle - timing meals carefully, exposure to light sources with a big blue wavelength component and of course melatonin if you can get hold of it. Valerian root also works in my experience, though take care with drug interactions & hepatotoxicity.

Sorry, my misunderstanding then. I thought it was mostly in reference to "power-naps". Never before have a heard of these other methods, I feel enlightened.

You spelt Fapping wrong "whistling:

All these still apply :?

nope, not a fan of sleep. To me, its the same as going to the toilet: You have to do it and it's boring.

Im actually dissapointed with most human functions, getting hungry is particularly annoying as all hell. haha
