Need a new Keyboard

Word of advise don't get the Arctosa, I had one and you can't see the keys at all. It's a black keyboard with black keys, with black letters... EPIC FAIL!!!

Rather get the Lycosa since it's got a backlight.

Save for the G15 you won't be sorry :p

Nah, seriously those Razor boards look decent for what you pay, I would have a look at one of them.

@ Fabio : You get that arctosa in silver on black as well. Shows on the box which one it is.

LOL I can't justify spending that much on a keyboard at the amount I earn :)

Okay!!! Yeah I was silly enough to get a black on black which sucked... Haha But if you can get your hands on a silver on black one it would be sick. It was a really nice board it just sucked that I couldn't see jack.

At the moment I got a g15, got it for R550 brand new... Best buy ever! I was pretty lucky!

Just be aware that the Home End Insert buttons etc are grouped with the numpad, so you have to switch between the 2 profiles to use either or, that is why I sent mine back, I need mine separate.

Not sure what they mean by mechanical? What are normal keys?

Grim I wasnt sure what they meant either so I checked from Razer :

Key architecture
I. Membrane keyboards
In membrane keyboards, the keycaps are positioned above rubber domes which actuate the keystrokes through a plastic sheath. This plastic sheath spreads out over the entire keyboard under the keycaps and keystroke actuation occurs when the key is fully depressed. The travel distance of the keyboard is determined by the thickness of the layers of the sheath and is usually 3.5 to 4 mm. The membrane-type keyboard is by far the most common type of keyboard architecture used today.

II. Mechanical keyboards
In contrast with the membrane keyboard, the keys on a mechanical keyboard have individual keyswitch mechanisms that register keystrokes instead of sharing a membrane sheath with all other keys. Keystrokes are actuated approximately halfway down the full travel distance, resulting in a different feel when gaming or typing. Razer keyboards feature clicky and tactile mechanical keyswitches that deliver a very distinct tap to the user's fingers when a key is actuated accompanied by an audible click, quite similar to the experience of performing a mouse click. As a result, the tactile feedback experienced by the user on a mechanical keyboard is significantly different from a membrane keyboard, with some users demonstrating a strong personal preference for this type of keyboard feel.

Very interesting, thanks WYv :)

I must say I would be keen to check one out. That clicky feel might actually be pretty cool.

Im actually tempted, but need to check the price difference first. I do have my eye on the lycosa - i prefer the touch media keys it has. Also I like the look and feel of the lycosa - my brother has one and I tested it out. So 99% sold on it :D
