Need a new laptop - R8000

Well at the moment I will probably work through the University and go for the Acer Aspire 5750g. Jeepers, I see what you mean about Incredible Connection, that same laptop is being sold for R10 000.

Yip they are always hugely over priced.

Okay well I just want to query one last laptop.

Proline W150 Core I7-2630QM (R8500) - I can go buy it at a local store (Parents would like it)

Chaos Computers

The only thing I do not like is the brand, do not know if they are reliable and if their support is very good.

Well the laptop does seem to have very good specs.
I have never heard anything bad about them, but they are also not that common so that might be the case. Check with Chaos to see what happens if there is a problem with the laptop, do you send it to Proline directly or do you send it into Chaos and then they send it off to Proline. If you send it to Chaos it should work out better as you are dealing with a company with a good track record.

I think I will do that. The specifications are more or less the same as the Acer 5750g. So I will give then a call and check what happens when one has a problem with the laptop.

Well I know Acer are the better brand. However I have heard to not touch their e-machines with a 10 foot pole.
Maybe Chaos are having that Acer on special or can get it for you from their supplier.
So if they are more expensive then the price would be worth it as you are paying for quality and when buying something like a laptop that is spec'd to last so long you would want the warranty and return quality to cover till it is outdated.
But yeah, have a chat with them and see what can be done :)

Please note the warranty on the laptop is a 1 Year carry-in warranty, so if there is a problem with your laptop you bring it in to us, BUT there is an option to purchase an extended warranty for the laptop at R1199, which changes the warranty from a 1 year carry-in, to a 3 year on-site warranty, where if you have a problem with the notebook, you log a call with Proline themselves, and they send someone out to you.

Everything seems in order, not going to take the extended warranty though.
