Need for Speed Rivals runs at 30 FPS on consoles

Why does it sound like this game will be boring? 6 players cap on Multiplayer and 30fps?

This random jump in and out puts me off

This entire Need for Speed franchise puts me off.

Colour changes in the game are limited to textures as well, there's little variation beyond that. Its an interesting idea, playing as the cops or racers, but EA has already lost me to better driving games. I also recently re-purchased Shift and Prostreet.

They would make billions if they just rebooted NFS:U2. Free roaming, with licensed cars that you can upgrade the performance and visual style of.

Well...

#Driveclub (trailers and gameplay look great)
The Crew
Gran Turismo (GT6 is on my to-do list now)
DiRT series (Codemasters hasn't let me down yet)
GRID
Flatout series (yes its old, but lots of fun)
F1-[insert year] from Codemasters
Test Drive
WRC series (haven't played the recent ones, though, DiRT has spoiled me)

Yes, I'm a Codemasters fanboy. I will play anything they put out.

And that's just the ones that are driving-focused. I play racers more than any other genre. The Crew not only pays homage to NFS: Underground, it also pretty much does what we all asked for once the original Most Wanted was out in the wild - larger maps, co-op play, more awesome driving. In fact, Ubisoft doesn't make it a secret that they're aiming to kill off Need for Speed, its been their stated main goal from the beginning.

And I believe they'll succeed because the majority of the developers in Ivory Tower studios, who are making this game, worked on the Test Drive series.

Hey that's... just what The Crew is offering :P

I replay NFSU2 about once a year, it's just too good to ignore. Granted, it's not as advanced as some of the games we have today, but it does very well for itself even now. Most Wanted holds the best memories, though.

The crew has an off-road mustang, that just immediately tells me to bin it till a price drop

Best racing game to play at the moment is F1, then Grid 1. Add grid 2 to the list if you like pretty graphics

Well...

I've been playing this, quite fun especially the drifting.

30FPS on a next-gen console? Wait, what?! That doesn't sound right.

The Need for Speed title I do like are:
[In order of the year I remember them]

Need for Speed: Porsche 2000
Need for Speed: Underground (despite its linearity)
Need for Speed: Underground 2
Need for Speed: Most Wanted
Need for Speed: Carbon
Need for Speed: Shift
Need for Speed: World
Need for Speed: The Run
and
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (Reboot)(despite its many flaws)

It's my favourite racing franchise in line with Gran Turismo - cannot deny that.

Porsche was BAWS! I would buy cars fix them up sell them. Wash, Rinse, Repeat till you had millions of dollars saved up.

As for the whole 30fps only, last I checked some 4k Televisions can only push out 30Mhz which limits frame rates to 30. AFAIK. Pushing it down to 1080p will get you 120Mhz but I have I think it will blur quite a bit?

In the case of the SE50UY04, it appears to perform a simple 4x frame repeat with 30Hz input and 5x frame repeat with 24Hz input eliminating the "120Hz effect" that produces unnaturally smooth camera motions in feature films that were originally captured at 24 frames per second.

That unnatural smoothness look like crap, just BTW.

Yeah. Forgot to take the screen's refresh rate into account as well.
