Need help choosing console! HELP

Hey guys I seriously need your help. I'm not trying to start a cliche flame thread here and I'm sure you guys are a mature crowd to not resort to rampant fanboyism I hope.
I need logical reasons/arguments that will either sway me towards an Xbox360 or PS3 in terms of exclusives and how well they fare as media centres. So far I'm slightly on the ps3 side of the fence because of the impending release of The Last Guardian which may/may not be a flop but I loved SoTC/ICO so damn much.
Which is a better media centre? Which has the better game catalogue? I'm not that into dudebro shades of grey/brown FPS's really... I'm more into adventure/platformers, indie games, multiplayer etc. Does that make me a jaded gamer?? :/
Is the sole purpose of an X360 for FPS's? Or does it have more to offer than that?

TL;DR: PS3 or X360 which is better for media centre + non FPS exclusives?
 
If you are into adventure games then PS3 is definitely the best choice. The Uncharted trilogy is arguably the best adventure series of this generation. You'll also get to play other great exclusives like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us (when it's released), inFAMOUS 1 & 2, Little Big Planet 1 & 2, etc.
 
I own both but I primarily use the PS3 because of the better exclusives and (IMHO) the better controller.

Grab yourself a PS3 remote for media center purposes and you're set.
 
Personally ive always been a PS fan all the way but i understand your predicament.
for the type of games you want to play i would say PS3 but also if you want the hole motion sensor experience the Kinect for XBox does look really cool since you dnt really need any peripherals.
i also prefer the PS3 controller design and feel to that of the Xbox.
just a few points to think about
 
I prefer the XBox controller but I'd also rather go for a PS3 at the moment. In my opinion, and as others have mentioned, the PS3 has the better exclusive titles.
 
I say PS3, I use mine daily and almost never play games on it. I use it as my media player, and it's DAMN good at that!

games especially exclusives PS3 (it does not necessarily mean its better exclusives than the 360 but the ps3 definately has more variety)
online play each to his own but i prefer xbox live to psn (its more secure :p)
Media Player PS3 wins hands down
Multiplats 360 (50/50 there's not much of a difference these days but the 360 still has the edge, check on lens of truth)
 
I know you already got the PS3, but here's something to show that you made the right choice. :)


As for the controller, I have both and for racing games I find the Xbox trigger to be better, but for everything else I prefer the PS3 controller (I have been using these things since PS1, so that would make my more comfortable with the Dual Shock).
 
Xbox - Killer controller.

PS3 - Best exclusives, free online gaming, one of the best (If not the best) Blu-Ray player out there and more mature people (If only by a small margin) can be found on PSN than the 13yr olds plaguing XBL.
 
I msut be honest i am facing this same problem but im more leaning towards Xbox it jsut seems like you get more bang for your buck plus PS move is super lame :p
 
I use the same, it works GREAT! Just got a Raspberry Pi last week, setting this up now to become my downloading / ps3 media server pc thingy, so my gaming PC does not need to be on all day :)
 
xbox 360. Awesome online service but its paid for so it should be awesome.
controller is kick ass.
fewer and smaller game updates(dont know why).
Better graphics in general than the ps3.(dont know why)

Ps3. Blu Ray player
Some good exclusives.

You will be happy with either. Except the upates with the Ps3 killed me. Often had to leave it running over night to dl massive updates and could nt play until they were installed etc. infuriating to say the least.
