New Black Ops PC patch announced

Noticed something last night. My Lag (severe FPS drops) seems to be network based.
With the FPS drops it's only natural to assume that it has something to do with either my graphics hardware, ram or CPU. But I lowered my resolution to 800x600 turned off everything ingame and used a heavily modified FPS config to try and smooth out my fps, but even on the lowest setting possible I am getting FPS drops into the single digit range, rendering the game virtually unplayable. Then I tested something. Load up a botmatch fill the server with 6 bots a side to make a fullish game, and the weird thing is I don't have a single issue. Game runs smooth as silk, and the lowest my FPS drops to even during hectic bits is well over 60FPS. This is even when pumping the Resolution to 1920x1200 with 2xAA and everything turned up. So surely if I can run a botmatch with lots of bots filling the screen and the game runs smooth, but then go online and you suffer from excessive lag it points towards something 'networking' related.

But now to contradict that. My Single Player runs absolutely horrible as well. Using fraps to run a "Min Max Average Benchmark", it shows that my Single Player runs 3fps lowest, 31fps average, 91fps highest. Even lower FPS than the Multi Player, and lots of crashes to desktop, illegal operations, and fatal errors. So whether the Single Player issues go hand in hand with Multi Player or not, I would not know...

New patch that will fix stuff? Feel like I've heard this before.
Plassie I also had very few issues on MP (particularly the combat training), the bulk of my problems lay with SP, which sat at about 12FPS average.
 
Youtube blocked, but I totally get the idea already! Remember they said Mweb is THE connection to go for? Well mine lagged like shit on Mweb and (almost) perfectly on Telkom.
 
teh Netcode is Flawed, plain & simple. Those bastids at Treyarch should be shot, one at a time. fracking slowly and painfully.

They Fucked this game up proper with their stupid annoying lag :/
 
Amazing isn't it? Hope this one actually works (my hopes aren't high) because I am get ravaged on Xbox MP :p
 
I really hope They manage to fix it. I mean, I can run MW2 on High Graphic at 1920x1080 (Still playable), yet Black Ops is sukkeling on low at 1280x720. (any other Widescreen resolution that I can try?)

I really don't have a monster of a machine, So I don't expect it to run at Full Graphics at 1080p, but I was at least hoping that it can give me fairly smooth gameplay when I adjust the graphics etc etc etc. :(



My pings are very low :D but so are my FPS :mad:.
 
It's really hard to understand what they did that causes the game to run well on certain PC's but not on others. I haven't had a hitch since day one and my line speed is but a measly 384k. It's all quite bizarre. :/

I agree with you. I guess this is why they liek console.

Yip, since I got myself that axxess account I've had no major problems, but there are still hitches and stutters and all kinds of weird niggles that piss me off sometimes. I hope they make the game run smooth. Dammit
 
i've had this game since launch, and have not been able to play one single bit...i get as far as video loading for the first mission to start, then get either a direct x error, or just plain black nothing...

...i've downloaded all the patches, direct-x reinstall from the disc and online, turned settings down (as per the steam forums) etc, etc

...so lets hope this patch helps out

ps: on the steam forums, most folks still having problems seems to be using winXP with SP3 (like me)

any suggestions while i wait for the patch. my specs are more than ok to run the game

Yeah I'm also on XP still, think that could have something to do with it. Then again, the OS requirement says XP - I particularly keep an eye out for that seeing has some games (ok one game ) was just released on Vista/7.
I am in the same boat as you. Haven't had one game and spent a whole weekend trying not to lose my temper with hours of stupid configs and forum browsing.
I am completey stumped.
 
its about time that these guys included the Dual core series because seriously its a major fsck up for us...
