I'm super-stoked for this. I hope they can find a compromise between sticking to the true-and-tested and innovation. Here's hoping it will revive the franchise like Tomb Raider and Wolfenstein: The New Order did and not go the DN: Forever route (sorry, but somebody had to say it).

Regarding the name:
There is a part of me suffering from OCD that has trouble handling the modern naming trends. Just "Doom". Erm... guys... there was already a game named "Doom". This is "Doom 4", finish en klaar.
A few other examples:
Tomb Raider - Same issue as Doom.
The New IPad - Speaks for itself.
Everything Microsoft names - Why has the OS changed to numbers but most of their other software is sill referred to by year? And Windows 7 should have been called Windows 8. Which one did they ignore, Millennium or Vista?
Android versions - Why can't the sweet name only clock when the main version number clocks? We have now had three confectioneries stuck in version 4
