New GPU Assistance

No, no overclocking.

You see, I've never really had an issue as I've always been able to play the new games on Xbox One, and any other older games om PC. It's always worked for me well. But, NMS is my latest addiction, so it's prompted me to have a gander at upgrading.

The 2500k at stock is still pretty potent. I don't think it will bottleneck a 1080p card at all, unless it is something very CPU intensive. Being a k model, you can push the clocks a bit if needed.

UPDATE:

Thank you everyone for the advice, guidance and offers and deals. I really appreciate it a lot. I've gotten a great deal to get a AMD RX 470 4GB within my budget, which I never expected to get. And so, that is the card I am in the process of ordering as we speak

Nice one

So, the card is in the machine and all is well. It is performing extremely well indeed. I haven't been buying GPU intense games on PS as I've not bee able to play them, but No Mans Sky did give it some room to stretch its legs in. And this RX 470 shined! With all settings at max, playing at 1080p, I got constant 60+ FPS. with some drops being down to poor optimization on the game's part. I should run some other benchmarking tools just to test it fully, but so far it's performing extremely well and I cannot be happier with my purchase

Dis Hammer Tyd!

Good to hear man. I think the 470 is the best bang for buck of all the new cards at the moment, especially if you can pick one up for around R4k.

If you happen to own 3DMark, be sure to run that and post some scores. Otherwise you use whatever you have lying around :D

This thread has been really helpful to me as well. Also planning on buying a new GPU at the end of the month and I was looking at basically the same cards here, although my budget is even tighter. I basically want to get the cheapest possible card that will play the new games, don't care about quality settings as long as the games run smooth. That being said I'm most likely going to go for the RX 460 2GB, might get the 4GB version but I doubt it.

My current specs are:
First gen i7 (no idea which model )
6GB RAM
GTX 550Ti

I think the 460 will be a nice upgrade from my current GPU and I have the added benefit (not really :p) of playing on a small monitor so my resolution is only 1366x768. This should ensure that I can run most games on high settings, I believe.
