New HDTV for PC monitor

Ok, I posted a thread not too long ago about using your HD TV as a monitor for your pc. Got some great suggestions and used my 40" HDTV with the HDMI cable and it worked great... kinda.

I basically had two problems. First off, the screen was too big (I know, nobody ever has that complaint unless they are talking about cellphones) so your focus is a bit divided plus if you put the TV too far, reading becomes a bit harder.
Secondly, with my Sinotec HDTV, when setting the screen resolution to 1920x1080, the desktop is basically off the screen (larger than the TV's display area) by approx 1cm on all sides. The TV's internal picture adjustments (height, width and position) were disabled and only became enabled if I'm using a VGA cable (which I'm not using). Only way I could get around it was to set the screen to a funny custom resolution like 1860x1056 or something like that.

So, I'm now looking to buy a 32" HDTV as a replacement monitor for my pc (well, for one of my monitors anyway). There are "specials" at the different stores, all for the same price, so that I can choose between Sony, Samsung and LG. There is also a 32" HD LED Sinotec TV and then there are obviously cheaper brands like Sinotec and HiSense and a couple of others and my Sinotec TV works 100% for a TV, but has the resolution issue like mentioned before.

Can anyone give recommendations or "recommendation to avoid" any specific TV?
Also, very important, if someone with one of these brands can also tell me if the TV's internal position and size adjustments are enabled when connected to a PC via a HDMI cable so that none of the sides are outside of the TV's display area when running at 1920x1080, that would be great.

lol I warned you about the size xD You lose perspective, and its hard to focus on such a large area, especially when playing fps games. As for the 2nd part of you're question, load up you're pc and take it along with you, then go to a shop like Hifi corp and ask them to test the resolution on the 32" screens, I don't see any reason why they won't let you do that, seeing as they usually have up to 30 screens on display.

well .. the work around for the resolution problem would be to simply scale your size till it fits?

and if you plan on playing any FPS games .. any size over 23" becomes a problem.

The Samsung 32d550 is great for PC use. I was toying with the idea of getting one but decided to keep my 2 screens.

Just be careful what you do buy, you can end up with a dog that doesn't display well.

Some quick feedback.
Got the Samsung, the one Grimspoon recommended above, and it works great. Initially the text were a bit blurry or something and then I played around with the TV's settings, set it to Movie mode and PERFECT. It is a freakin smart TV... was tempted to buy a bigger one as well for normal TV use but luckily I didn't give into that temptation or I would have been broke :p

Got one as well. Best monitor Ive ever had. Remember to name your source to PC or PC/DVI. Basically turns it into a fully fledged pc monitor, disabling some unneeded picture proccessing and elimating any input lag.

You can also try adjust the clear type settings to make text more readable.

My display card has a mini-HDMI port so I'm connecting directly to the TV's HDMI port.

No need... After changing the setting on the TV, everything switched to just perfect.

It's great... it is a bit of an adjustment when I look at the 24" monitors now (I have 2 connected plus the TV). My viewing distance is the same as before, on the edge of my desk which is approx 700mm from me.

It is just a pity I can't use a bigger resolution so that I can fit more things on the screen :)... Guess I can't have it all.
