New Headphones: R1000 Budget

Once you try out the sennheisers, i feel you cant go back, sure the logitech g35 and megaloden from razer is decent, but not the best when it comes to listening to music, sure if your just a simple gamer, those headphones will be fine, but when you come to appreciate music the sennheisers i would say is one of the best out there.
Listened to a pair of HD 800's Wow..... words cant describe it

For gaming, I hear so, yes. Apparently the virtual surround sound is pretty legit, but what made me seriously consider it was the 3.5mm and USB options respectively. Incredibly nice that you are able to switch between the two at will, and the fact that the mic is detachable is pretty cool as well :>

It's real 5.1 not virtual, I've been researching a bit and this is what I found, really keen Roccat Kulo - Headphones - Released May 2011

If I can't wait for that one I'll get the Kave, thanks man great choice on the HD 555 btw :)

Roccat Kulo look good. Wonder how much it will cost in this Country.

Definitely not virtual... its an excellent pair of headphones, will never buy anything else again, will stick to roccat.

Yeah sorry I forgot. Mind's a bit of a clusterfuck after considering all these headphones and reading up on them ^_^

I got myself a pair of Roccat Kaves and I must tell you they are awesome! great sound quality, good bass, clarity and obviously 5.1 which gives you the upper hand in games! especially cod!

I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a decent set of headphones!

well done! You will enjoy them! Had mine for a while already! Awesomeness!

Nice, I got heaven out of a R300 headset, that gives me surround sound and is usb. Is well balanced between bass/front/side/rear/center and can go loud enough to make your ears ring for a week, yet sensitive as anything. Obviously quality depends on previous experiences, and mine was upgrading from el-cheapo no name 20rand that only had 1 side working after 1st month to the zixa e-95. Its a gaming headset. No doubt there are better quality, like the ones all of you guys have been mentioning, but you can only know what you have been exposed to right? I am stuck with my e-95, unless my current set breaks(then i have no choice but to buy new set) or until I have some form of income once I'm done with studies.
Reading this thread has made me feel like splashing out money I don't have.
Good choice on Roccat Kave, Enjoy

Apparently the bass will kick in only after about 100 hours of use - not that it's a massive fault, it's just not as punchy at the moment, even for non-bassy headphones like the HD555. In about a month's time I'll do the foam mod to turn it into an HD595 which reportedly increases sound quality greatly, specifically regarding stage presence and bass. I'll report back then to tell you if there's any difference for the better :)

In the interest of finalizing everything, I've done the mod and am now reporting back :). The HD-555s vanilla never really got that bassy punch I was looking for, even though the other aspects were brilliant. So even after "breaking them in", the bass response was still underwhelming. So I did this mod yesterday:

It was surprisingly easy to do, and there is a big difference. Bass is a lot brighter, punchier, and just in general more prominent. Well worth doing if you have/want to buy these.
