Seems Neverwinter is going online in this game. However it will not Massively Multiplayer game, but rather a Co-Op experience. Interesting.

"We're beyond thrilled to develop a brand new version of Neverwinter," said Jack Emmert, COO of Cryptic. "It's been years since the original became a gaming icon and we're honored to work with such a great franchise. We've been working closely with Wizards of the Coast and R.A. Salvatore to create an authentic D&D adventure filled with compelling fiction and exciting gameplay."

Why do games have to do this? I mean I prefer my gaming to be done alone and on my time. Oh well I guess my breed of gamer is dying out:(

Haha I know how you feel Tsar.

While I do enjoy online gaming it grates me to hell and back dealing with the majority of online gamers. Often much of the fun in the game is lost. It becomes all about the best setups, the fastest routes while enduring endless insults, all in pursuit of enlarging ones epeen. It can be hard to get a constant group of good friends together to have nice relaxed online fun. One person or another always seems to play far less, or has other duties, basically dooming most groups.

And don't forget how they tell you what you can use or what you can't use. Rpg's should be single player as it should have a rich story and to me that is hard to do with more than one player as some people just skip the cut scenes.

If they do this the same as diablo / Titan Quest where it's a SP campaign that you can MP coop then that would be AWESOME!

I'm really looking for more titles to play with 1 or 3 buddies online.

Same here. Unfortunately for the DnD style games, there isn't anyone I know that playes them, so will be all alone for me. If this is multiplayer only, I'll probably pass on it.

I enjoyed NWN1, with HotU being the best, but I found NWN2 boring. Furthest I managed was after reaching Neverwinter, where I was accused and started gathering evidence.

Whahaha, no way! That's where I stopped as well. But I agree, it got boring. NWN1 was pretty cool.

I wonder if the guys on here who planned on playing Titan Quest enjoyed it. Would be cool to have a single quest buddy so you only play when the other person's on.

the biggest issue here is Cryptic studios. their track record post city of heroes is pretty dismal.

STO and Champs O aren't exactly fun...

NWN 2 OC is poor but the mask of the betrayer expansion is brilliant. Storm of zehir is also good if you like exploration. Mysteries of west gate is a great adventure pack.

This could be a decent game but I also prefer single player rpg's.

I don't see what the fuss is about. For those who are more comfortable playing alone, there is the option of having accompanying characters controlled by A.I. We already do this-or something like it-when we play party-based RPGs. Whether the solo gamer will be ale to adjust the behaviour of his or her fellow adventurers or they will be autonomous remains to be seen.

I'm reserving judgement on this one until I have played it.

i thought splintercell chaos theory co op was pretty cool. sadly few of my friends wanted to play it

I also kind of feel that just because the internet is there, doesn't mean we have to use it for everything. Some games are just kewl to jam on your own. I mean, I enjoy Starcraft II, but I'm pretty busy, so i love just being able to jam a single player campaign.

Same with RPGs. True RPG's shouldn't really be about online gaming. They should be seperate from MMO's. I agree that a single player campaign that can be co-oped is the best. (although I've never really enjoyed co-oping RPGs much. Unless its with friends at a LAN where you can talk shit and blow stuff up).

Hope this takes off because Salvatore is an amazing fantasy author. Like up there with Tolkien, Jordan and Feist. So the story line should be great.
