New PS4 and PS3 models in the works

Hmmm the filings make it seem legit but I just don't see a new model of the PS4 already being in the works...

Probably just planning it, probably to be released in late 2015/early 2016

That would definitely make more sense, and if that's the case, I don't expect to see an announcement at E3. My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I feel like all the redesigned consoles in the past released quite quickly after their announcement. It was like "Here's the new console" and then the next month it was already in stores. No point building hype for something that's essentially already on the market.

Maybe just internals being changed. Bigger HDD option or smaller nm being used?

They definitely need to change some internals for the PS4, my new PS4 I got a couple of weeks ago is having trouble now.. discs stuck/not ejecting them. My 2nd faulty unit

This is why I am skeptical about buying PS and Xbox consoles on release. Or any appliance, for that matter. There's always a new iteration around the corner.

If it is a new model PS4, expect to see it on the shelves for the holiday season, so round about November this year.
This is why it sux being an early adopter.

A change in the production process at this point would be unlikely, as Global Foundries doesn't have their 20nm process ramped up yet and there wouldn't be enough capacity to accommodate a new family of APUs, GPUs and the custom silicon for other companies like Sony and Microsoft. Maybe a bit later on in 2015 they'll start looking at it.

What might be happening is a change in the board layout and of the cooling setup, because the PS4 is one hot puppy. The PS3 is currently running on the 45nm process, so I'd expect a drop to 28nm over there.

Damn that's some tough luck! Mine is thankfully holding out so far, no issues. Don't often leave it in standby though, don't know if that has something to do with it. Are you going to try and get it replaced again?

Agh I really dont wanna bother replacing it again, it would be another month, and another month lost in PS+ subscription. I fixed the disc issue with a little screw located on the side. But when serious stuff happen again I will consider going through the replacement process again.

Remodelling the PS3 again?

How many more dimensions can Sony squeeze outta this?

A Super-Duper Slim Model?

Don't give 2 shits about the PS4 right now. Still overpri-- pricey, and not nearly enough money to afford it anyway.

I wonder of the ppl who got the PS4,would want to sell theirs to get the newer design.
They probably feel they should have waited abit.

Being an early adopter always has more negatives than positives. Fortunately there is one born every minute. :p
