New TV - "Upgrading my Xbox"

Hi,

I'm looking at buying a new TV, Want to get a 32" Full HD. Just not all that sure what to get. Dont really want to spend more than R8000. Anyone got any advice on this?

I have a 32" LCD Sinotec (made in SA using Samsung panels) that I got for R5k in 2008. It doubles as my main pc screen and xbox screen.

I used to run games @ 720p on it, but for some strange reason it handles 1080p perfectly, even though it only gave me a max of 720p to choose from a while back.

Have a look at Game and Makro, they have really awesome specials on 32" screens at the moment between R5-7k.
 
Cool, thats awesome, Going to do a little shopping around this weekend. Just wanted to get an idea... before i get the salesman pitch...
 
Ahhhh, salesmen & their pitches. I got a friend who went into a "reputable" store asking for Blu Ray movie after the PS3 was released.

The guy replied that the don't stock p0rn movies & that he should try his local DVD store. How far will you be sitting from this tv when playing?
 
Hehe Dex, that's swak hey!

My 32" is on my table so when I play PC games I sit right in front of it, or when I jam xbox I lie on my bed about 4m away ... either way it works perfectly.
 
Surely there must be a maximum distance you need to sit when wanting to see FULL HD on such a small TV?

I mean, if you sitting like 2 or 2,5 metres away, would you only notice a better pic quality?
 
I judged badly ... My room total length is 3.5m ... but practical distance is about 2.5m away

I knew someone who work at, well i wouldnt consider reputable store, ... they were told what brands they would get sales bonus's for.... hence... "Buy this brand its such a great dvd player blah blah blah", even though they didnt actually believe this... they jsut wanted to make extra cash....

Propably close to the end of the year and as with all new tech it will cost a pretty penny.

BTW i did some research and that 32" Sony Bravia from House & Home for just over R7k is the best value for money ive seen thus far.
 
I got a sumsang hd ready 32" 720p for R4400 and it has incredible picture quality. There is no point in getting a 1080p at that size as it does not make a diff.
