I bought my 32" LCD Sinotec (720p) for R5k last year May (even got a random free sinotec dvd player with it)

It hasn't given me a spot of trouble ever since I got it. I use it as my primary gaming screen for PC and sexbox!

Hey I am looking at getting a new tv too. I went to game the other day, and was looking at an HD sinotech 42". I was thinking about maybe going plasma, my lounge has lots of light, and I don't use the TV for games. My one worry was phospher burn in. The salesman told me that this no longer happens. Is this true? Is a plasma screen 'safe' to buy?

Dude, anything under 50inch get a LCD TV, anything 50 and above go plasma

Plasmas only support full HD 50 inch and up, and they dont have have the burn anymore as with older models.

Well, I don't really need full hd. I don't have an HD PVR or Blu Ray player. Th emain reason is that my could old 84cm CRt is giving me the cold shoulder. It works at the the repair shop, but not in my house. That thing weighs like 30kg, so I just want somthing light.

Game is having a special on Thursday, a Samsung 42" plasma screen HD ready. That's what I might get.

Well to be honest with you Plasma does burn but, the LG's and the Samsungs have some good tech in them that corrects it and also Plasma gives you a more natural color and its a faster panel. Good Positive about Plasma is the bigger sizes are actually cheap.

But a really good investment would be to save up for a LED panel, its got the best of both worlds, the Durability of a LCD and the Color of a Plasma.

The worst thing one can do is buy a house brand.

2 reasons

Warranty support on it is not good

you will always have some kind of problem with it.

if you want to use it for TV go for a plasma its got a better picture then lcd on all signals.

some ideas on pricing

SAMSUNG ps42b430 HD READY 42' inch going at R7499

LG 30pq50 50' inch R12999

other then that its going to be a personal choice at the end of the day.
