New XBOX 360 turns itself off, if things get too hot...

Fail IMO! if the sensor stops working??? If I am in the middle of a game???

If the sky starts falling? If zombies come to my house to eat me? If more paranoid thoughts come into my head?

Geesh dude...Think! It's a privilege, not a right.

Guys, you're missing the point of the article. It just goes to show how flippen negative gamers are in general. Geesh.

Anyways, the GOOD NEWS that this article is showing us is that the console is finally CAPABLE of detecting a heat problem and SAVING your console IF it gets too hot. You should be happy that this has come to light because it's an EXTRA safe-guard that the original console never had.

C'mon guys. Think positively now and then. It's a nice break for the norm.

Bad deal.

Sure, the PS3 has a heat sensor that would shutown the system should things get seriously hot, nearing the point of nuclear meltdown.

But what it say about your console if you NEED to add that feature as a second-guess after-the-fact?

look if it's done properly it'll work, plus the new 360 looks like it's better ventilated anyways.

so an additional layer of security if you will is not such a bad thing.

+1 they should have added this a long time ago!

Dude you know that most PC's have this same feature? For example my gaming laptop swithches itself off if i try to run a game for an excessive period on a high setting. Image the damage if it did not do that.....
i for one am very happy about this new feature!

But...... The PS3 has never had any heating problems (only, say, after 79 hours of continuous play maybe). Maybe Microsoft should ask for advice. But yes, well done Microsoft for making an improvement.

Yeah, LOL. Except for the inconveniently prevalent YLOD hardware failure, obviously.

No having owned either console myself, but I do know the YLOD is far from as common as the RROD, frankly its inexcusable that Xbox overheats so much and therefore have such a high failure rate, my PC shuts down at 85 degrees C, and its done that once when the fan stopped, so they must have really skimped in the designing of the Xbox

You know what...The guys that are so negative about this are failures.

This is a positive step forward!!

It is like buying a corvette, epically awesome car, you thrash it for hours on end and then get a warning light telling you something is wrong and you should take it easy for the time being. Its a safety feature!!

Lets just also point out that people complain the x360 scratches discs...maybe you shouldn't move it around while playing..fcking retards..

No, it's not as common as the RRoD issue (was), but it's also more common than anyone at Sony wants you to think. A friend of mine has a colleague who does console repairs, and apparently there are far more YLODed PS3s coming in now than RRoDed Xboxes.

And yes, the Xbox 360's previous failure rate is absolutely inexcusable. But I can't work out why some guys are now slagging off new console modifications to mitigate this - improved ventilation, safety system shutoff. It's like once they've decided Microsoft is evil, Microsoft is always going to be evil. Lolwtf.

my original launch model xenon 360 rrod after working 2 1/2 years problem free, the ps3 at home did ylod after about 8 or 9 months, and i used the 360 on a daily basis, whereas the ps3 was only used now and then because i only had 3 games for it. Yet it failed in less than half the time than it took my 360 to fail

i got a replacement new 360 from mi digital (with a bit of hassle) whereas game only went and repaired the ps3
