Newbie gamer, where to start?

Dude. SAM & MAX - THE ORIGINAL Hit The Road game. Awesome

Yeh go for these, easier to get into the fps I reckon. Though depends on what sort of games you enjoy.

Need for Speed : Underground 1 & 2 are quite fun and easy driving games as well.

I'm going to face the firing squad here and say he should give Fable1 (awesome entry lvl game for RPG's) and Call of Duty 1/2 (FPS with some story) a go...

We all love our old games due to their playability, but the gfx won't be as appealing to new gamers.

Get The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Now that is a role playing game. Newer RPG's like Fallout and Mass Effect might be a bit hard for a newcomer.

Not everyone knew about this... I do agree with you, would even go so far as to say that if you had GL Quake, it's more fun multiplayer than HL1 was...
Ya, I played quite a bit of GLQuake. Was loads of fun with reaperbots, too.

The thing I remember most about it was the rocket launcher. Rockets were *fast*. Today you can dodge rockets in your sleep. You see the nice fire trail, take a break to make some coffee, come back to the PC, look at the rocket again, take a nice sip of the black gooey sludge you made for yourself, and then strafe in your direction of choice. In Quake 1 it was slightly more challenging. :D

Nice post Xarog. I remember that, but I also remember totally hating the concept when I first tried it out:rolleyes:
lol, so did I! I remember clinging to my joypad with fervor. (which was OK for Duke3d because of the auto height adjustment).

Sam & Max isn't a FPS. That's like saying Tomb Raider is a FPS game... :(
Roman is looking for an RPG though.
